| Global warming is an ever-present issue in our international society that is increasingly becoming harder to ignore. In the last century, the average surface temperature of the earth has increased approximately 0.6C, with the highest warming rate occurring in the last thirty years nearly three times the century-long average, according to an article in the New York Times. Since 1980, nineteen of the twenty warmest years on record have occurred, with the top three warmest occurring since 1998. Human activities, along with their resultant carbon dioxide emissions, are the main factors to blame in the global warming crisis. The effects of global warming are already apparent. Drastic measures to end this international emergency must be taken immediately in order to prevent the results from becoming catastrophic. | ||||||||||
