EPL Review on 8 Nov 2004 By Soaring Magpies 08.11.2004 <<< Previous Next >>> There are definitely good betting opportunities in EPL Championship as the favourites like Arsenal and Man U continue to falter in EPL. They are not the only teams that are facing a crisis as the EPL Championship race approaches the halfway mark. While Chelsea look to exploit the poor runs of their closest rivals Arsenal and Man U, traditional bigwigs Liverpool and Tottenham H, and modern powerhouse Newcastle also tasted defeats over last weekend. Crystal Palace showed that they are a decent team and created quite a few problems for Arsenal. The match between them ended in 1-1 draw and lost Arsenal the No. 1 spot. Newcastle’s “shamebolic” loss to Fulham at home was the “toast” of all upsets over the weekend. Newcastle was expected to win Fulham comfortably at St. James Park but the Football Gods would have the plot rolled out in a spectacular fashion. Newcastle without key players Given and Carr in its “Nationwide Conference”-liked defence, surrendered timidly to Fulham’s predators Colin John, Boa Morte and Malbranque, and the unbelievable “Human Patriot Missile” Crossley. The match ended 4-1 in Fulham's favour.
To top it all, Souness was sent from the dug-out for his protests. He was furious with referee, Webb's first-half display, and bewildered by a game which brought memories of Manchester United's - next weekend's visitors - 6-2 victory on Tyneside two seasons ago flooding back. Then again, Newcastle’s thumping loss could be due to the "Cole" Effect. Whenever former Newcastle player Andrew Cole visits St. James Park, Newcastle were more likely to encounter some sort of bad luck.
