Oh...this is a sophisticated one...I was thinking of making everything 3d!!! O_O...I was intending to fill the whole globe-thingy with letters, forming text. The letters would be of different depth.
The challenge to this is that the letters would have to form half a sphere. O.O
As for the hand, I was thinking along the line of paper-mache... :)
but...
