Title: Best couple o nerae! (Hunt for the best couple!)

It was the annual cultural fair (open house) at Sei Ringo School, and there will be a best partner contest during the fair. Class 1-3 had the whole gymnasium to run a haunted house with 3-D computerized projection, but the system went out of control with Keiko's jealousy. Kouichi saw horrible things while evacuating the building, and Buurin came to his rescue. By some mistake Buurin and Kouichi was elected as the best partner in the fair.

Kuroha Keiko was discussing about the upcoming cultural fair with some students.

"Our mission, as students, is to bestow the school's cultural spirit. Noble, rich, and creative. [These were written on the chalkboard too] These three are the themes of Sei Ringo's cultural fair this year. You must do your best. The school will not forgive you if anything goes wrong... no, I, Kuroha Keiko, won't forgive you if anything goes wrong! By the way, I have an idea..." Her eyes flashed.

Out in the field.

A crowd gathered around a big billboard with the word Cultural Fest. Kashiwagi and Masami wondered what was going on. Karin popped up at several times and places, kept asking what was happening. Meanwhile a helicopter appeared. [Karin screamed, implying another exaggerating show by Keiko.]

A gate on the helicopter opened. Keiko descended by a cable [Keiko's theme plays], jumped onto the stage, fell for no reason, and stood up again. She started talking.

"Oh, Ladies and Gentlemen! It is a usual tradition of our school's cultural fair, to elect a pair of most efficient partner during the preparations of the fair. [The billboard now says Best Couple Contest.] Every student has to vote. This pair must be one boy and one girl. The elected couple will have a happy future. The voting criterion is sincerity at work, and solid contribution to the cultural fest. The results will be displayed real-time on this billboard. As for the prizes, they will be unimaginably grand: a romantic lunch at a top-notch hotel. Please participate in this contest."

Karin heard all these, and started dreaming about Kouichi-kun again. So romantic, her face was majorly blushed.

The billboard now shows "Great Super Best Couple Contest", and some votes for Keiko. She thought, grinning: "Takuma-senpai and me will win this contest for sure!"

Back in Class 1-3. The students were discussing what will be the theme of their exhibition. Kouichi suggested a haunted house. Kashiwagi and Karin agreed. He didn't seem to care, and it was her favourite game. Keiko disagreed because she regarded the theme as childish. Then Karin and Keiko exchanged electric arc in their eyes. Takuma popped up and seconded the proposal. He stated that haunted houses have their cultural significance. Keiko shifted views and approved the proposal. The three K's and Masami felt very confused.

Keiko gave class 1-3 the whole gymnasium for use. Masami saw this as an abuse of authority, and Kashiwagi simply could not tolerate this, but Mizuno was very impressed. He got very excited and shook Keiko around.

Next day, Karin ran to school. She said she would do her best to be the best couple with Kouichi. She went straight to the gym, and saw Kouichi alone. Keiko slapped her from behind, knocking her down. Keiko met with Kouichi to discuss a plan for the haunted house. Meanwhile Karin tried to get his attention. They settled on using a combination of maze and sprites. Keiko prepared a computerized virtual reality system to handle all the sprites and their associated visual effects. She went on bloating about the computer, and finish off with a background showing Karin packing up and leave. Then who was to prepare the big banner was all that left to be decided. Karin volunteered for the job, pat herself on the chest to show her determination, but coughed after the pat.

Later that day, everybody was busy preparing for their shows. Karin was on an elevated platform painting the sign. Masami called from the ground asking if Karin is okay. Karin replied "Karin-chan omakase yo!" (sounds familiar), saying how trivial painting a sign is. She went on imagining and acting out about how Kouichi-kun would praise her. Masami gave a silly look seeing Karin's mind splitting again.

Just when Karin started work again she noticed Takuma-senpai just besides her. Nobody knows how and when he got on the platform. In a panic Karin inadvertently stroke the sign. She got very angry. As Takuma continued, Kuroha was seen climbing up the ladder to the work platform. As they struggled on the platform it broke to pieces, leaving the three in the air for a while, then they fell hard on the ground. Kouichi was not too happy seeing this.

Several days passed.

Everyone was still preparing for the open house. Kuroha was demonstrating her computerized virtual reality system to some people. One of its components was dedicated to producing virtual snow. Karin was watching from not too far away, still determined to finish the banner. Then Takuma appeared. Karin screamed in a fury and Keiko, who heard this scream, raced out to engage in a mad chase of three. Mizuno thought that Karin only had her mind on playing around.

Karin spent quite sometime outrunning Takuma, and was panting around a corner. Mizuno showed up, gave some mean comments for Karin not finishing her job properly, and turned back. Karin was of course upset, but this also motivated her to finish her sign. Karin said to herself: "He's right. I volunteered for the job. If I can't finish it, I will be angry at myself even if Kouichi-kun don't get angry at me!" She worked hard, alone, until dusk, when the job was finally completed.

Mizuno saw the completed sign, saying that was great, then apologized for his mean comments earlier. Karin restated that she was dependable, then asked if Kouichi came because he was worried about her. He didn't answer, but took her to the gymnasium instead.

Mizuno showed Karin a virtual reality snowing scene. They were alone in the gym with each other, and both got shy. Karin thought she would be the best couple with Kouichi-kun, but later gone a little crazy by shouting "sure win," frightening Kouichi.

Finally, it was the open day. Many people went to the haunted house because they were attracted by Karin's banner. Takuma showed up from nowhere right before Karin, dressed like a vampire, and acted like one too.

Arashiyama and Nanako were touring a set inside the haunted house. They approached a creature for a closer look. It suddenly growled, scaring Nanako. Arashiyama calmed her down saying these were not real. When he tried to poke the creature to prove his claim his fingers went through. Then he thought they were real, and fainted. In another location Kondou was also commenting how real the set was. When he looked into a box to see what was inside Karin and Takuma ran out of it in a pursuit. Even so Takuma didn't forget to spread his kisses. Kashiwagi saw Karin in the chase in the monitor, and Kuroha knew it by some other means. In a fury she raced into the control room and took over the machinery.

Meanwhile Takuma-senpai chased Karin onto a plain when she was horrified by some ghost. She turned back and ran into Takuma, knocking him unconscious.

Keiko, having seen "her Takuma-senpai" being knocked down, drove the system beyond capacity, and the situation went totally out of control as electric arc covered the whole gym.

Karin saw a high concentration of ghosts in an area lighted red, wondering how could that be. She found out that Takuma was still unconscious (so he won't know what is going on), and transformed into Buurin.

From this point on the virtual reality simply became too real.

Buurin dispelled many of the ghosts with Buurin Boomerang, Buurin Ofuda and Buurin Punch, but there were so many of them that even Buurin panicked. Meanwhile Mizuno was giving evacuating instructions with a bullhorn. Then he set out to find Karin. When he was attacked by a ghost Buurin came to his rescue. It was then they noticed that the ghosts were combining forces to become a super monster (looks like the one in Eye of the Beholder). Buurin Punch failed to hurt the monster, and it countered with an energy blast from its gigantic eye that blasted Mizuno instead. Buurin gathered all her power, ; and delivered a fatal hit to the monster.

The sprite mechanism returned to normal, but not the snowmaking component yet.

Buurin was walking with Kouichi in a snowstorm when they stepped on a hole and dropped into yet another snowstorm. Kouichi, looked like he would freeze to death any moment, said he was happy to be with Buurin before he passed out. Buurin let out a very emotional cry: "Kouichi-kun!" At the same time Kashiwagi got to the snowmaker and shut it down. After the shutdown Buurin and Kouichi-kun were seen embracing each other. Everyone applauded when they found out what happened. They were both very surprised and very shy.

The billboard indicated that Buurin and Mizuno won the contest. Kuroha was seen standing beside a flaming trench, with flame in her eyes. She could not accept the results.

The best couple had the romantic lunch, but it was held at the school's cafeteria. Kuroha defended the inconsistencies with her earlier claims by saying that St. Ringo is a top notch school so its cafeteria is a top notch hotel as well. Mizuno was very happy to be with Buurin but she was not too happy because it was not Karin having lunch with Mizuno-kun.
