What is Sponsorship?
. It is a one-to-one relationship between you and your sponsored child. More than a half million sponsors in India (more than a million worldwide) enjoy this relationship. You can correspond, pray for your sponsored child, receive regular reports on their progress, even perhaps visit the child and his or her family and community.
How Do I Write to My Sponsored Child?
You may want to get to know your sponsored child more personally by exchanging letters. The connection that you make by writing your sponsored child is a powerful reminder for you, as well. You are making a big difference
to the child's life.
Here are some helpful hints about writing your sponsored child:
. When writing your letter, it's important to consider your sponsored child's environment and culture. For example, it's best not to write about the things you own since your child has very few possessions. Feel free to share about your family, friends, and interests. You can always include a colorful postcard or photo, which you sponsored child will treasure.
. A simple one-page letter is ideal. Share about yourself, your family, and you interests. Write about children you know. Use colorful pens and decorate your letters!
. Let your sponsored child know that you are praying for him or her. Find out about the customs, climate, culture, and country where you child lives. You'd be surprised what you might have in common!
. Encourage your sponsored child in their education, hobbies, and endeavors.
Can I Send Packages to My Sponsored Child?
. You may, enclose small, flat, inexpensive items with your letter as long as they fit into a 6" x 9" envelope.
. Several times a year, we will send you colorful greeting cards for you to sign and return to us for delivery to your sponsored child. These are always a big hit with the children and the easiest way to send a surprise to your sponsored child.
. You may learn your sponsored child has a special financial need you can help with. If you wish to make an additional financial gift beyond your sponsorship you may do so. Your donations will be used to meet the child's needs.
. Please do not enclose your monthly sponsorship gift or any cash with your correspondence.
