When?
We hope to be going to Bosnia with Novi Most from 19th August to 2nd September 2006.
Where?
One of our group commented that Bosnia is much like Yorkshire. It's about the same size and has about the same population(and, of course, they speak funny). Make of that what you will...
Within Bosnia, we will be going to the Bosniak side of Mostar, famed for its seven bridges. These seven bridges linked the Bosniak and Croat sides of the city over the river Neretva. During the Serbo-Croat war, all of the bridges were destroyed, leaving Mostar both geographically and ethnically split. However since then the Stari Most Bridge (upon which the city had been named) has been rebuilt with money given by other countries. This is a big step towards reconciliation between both communities.
What will we be doing?
In Mostar we will be working with Novi Most (a Christian charity) in running a club for 14-20 year olds. The club is run every summer and involves sporting activities, crafts, music, IT and a wide range of attractions. We will be working alongside the young people and showing Christ's love to them.
