What are we aiming to raise?
The cost of the trip is about �450 per person for the two weeks and as there will be eleven people going from our group, the total cost for the trip will be in the region of �5000. We hope to raise about half that amount through fundraising and pay the other half ourselves.
Fundraising so far...
We kicked off our fundraising last November by holding a Guy Fawkes Fireworks night at our church. Although this has been a non-profit venture which we have held for the last few years, we decided that even if we did not make much of a profit we could still use it as an official start to our fundraising and make people in our local community aware of our trip this summer. Thanks to some generous donations we actually raised �85 from the fireworks evening, substantially more than we had made previous years!
Since then we have been given another �75 worth of donations and minus the �10 spent on securing this site's domain, our current fundraising total stands at �150. This is obviously well short of the figure we need for the summer but we do have three other donations which have either been promised or are being arranged. They are:
A trip to a local school to give some assemblies on what we intend to do in Bosnia and in return for this we would get a substantial sum raised on a school charity day (this is still to be confirmed and should hopefully raise around �550).
An anonymous gift of �120 has been promised.
'Pathfinders' from our church have an unused sum of �151 which they have promised us.
If all of these donations go through then that will see us just below the �1000 figure which will be a good way towards our target.
What other fundraising are we planning?
At this stage we do not have anything specifically planned apart from the above, but we do have several ideas and once we have confirmed them they will be put up here.
