I dread the days when they start to tell the truth.
I frown at the lies I still hear.
I run to remember what it feels like to trip.
I stand still to let everything pass me by.
I shout in an empty room.
I cry in the middle of the street.
I drive fast to feel my heart beat.
I hold my breath while she is away.
I touch the skin to make mine tingle.
I look away to see what I do not want to.
I cuddle perfection in the arms of broken glass.
I curse the stars for being so pretty.
I smile at the fallen leaves in the spring.
I sense the loneness hiding in the bushes.
I call out the ones in the distance.
I listen for silence that returns.
I know that with all this, there is still more.
I know these things are better than the world I know…
