One step, two step... I try to backtrack the moments and events to figure out how I got myself to this point in which I find Anne Savage giving me a kiss on the cheek. I smile.
Anne Savage, one of my favorite DJ's from the good ol' hard house days decides to come back to Vancouver after a three year lay away. Me, laying off the hard thumping UK beats for some time now, find myself buying her new CD just by chance only 4 days earlier, without any knowledge of her appearance in this playground I call my backyard. So this CD in my hands hold the key for me having a purpose to even try to pursued the security to let my through to get me to within distance of the heart of the party. I think back to Thursday sitting in my car bobbing my head to track 5 disc 1..... "dude, Anne Savage is Doh'p"... a phone call to a friend had to be made to reminisce. With a push of a button to retrieve an incoming call on the other line... these words ".. guess whose coming to town this weekend... Anne Savage..." it was decided.... we were going to PARTY..... mind you, I was quite confused about this information since the topic from two separate calls with two separate people just happened to be one the same...
I'm at the bottom of the stairs and start to think that I'll never get this CD signed... Hmmm, she looks annoyed in this picture.... I'm restless and decide to pick at at her glamorized image on the CD. This security guard up on stage reminds me of one of the men in suits that you would see at some debate for some position in office. Not quite the same. He points, I walk up to the stage looking back to see if the people in front of me care that I've just bypassed them... I still haven't figure out why this guy let me on stage first, or put me in front of the queue, or walked up to Anne and pointed at me when she was done her set as if I was her biggest fan in the world...
pen -> paper, finger -> camera, lips -> cheek
My jollies are in a knot....
So what was the point of this meaningless story. Who the hell is Anne Savage.... Names, people, places, things, conversations.... a week ago I was driving to the mall wondering if I needed more milk....Today I tell a story... it's just that from then til now, I see the workings of this strange world and forget that at any moment, the next might just be the beginnings of story into itself that you had no idea about. The things that take you where to you need to be do not lay in some day planner or scripted in some previous knowledge... they are threads that pass by through our lives that we happen to catch and weave into these great moments. We hope and wish and aspire. We anticipate. We build up. Never to be so great.... A few series of events, right place right times, and this and thats... make into some great memories....
I smile....
ANNE SAVAGE ROCKS!!!!!
