Not three days past the nights of little children running around in their costumes, with mystic orange canvases that were destines to crackle with the sounds of wicks in which they were lit... Christmas bells line the store....and red and green seem to have quickly come into fashion....
So is this a true sign of the festive season too soon...or just another reason for the stores to market a holiday a few days earlier.. I am happy that those round Halloween chocolates with the wrappers like a jack-o-lantern are on sale now... but it's funny how they just put red and green wrappers on and everyone wants to buy those now... Maybe in some way, my lazy mind is still in the summer time. With the sun out on a day like today, it's hard to think that we are soon entering into the holiday season... or are we. I sure don't feel like it yet. I'm still trying to wait for that one last day of warm(er) weather so I can go ride my bike...
It just seems that the consumer market drives how we perceive things. Put a thought in and we buy it.... We cant just let our hearts grow warm and sing those song that we used to love so much... warm hot chocolate with marshmallows on a cold day.. The anticipation of snow as you breath out steam.... Let the season just come by itself.
I find myself dodging the signs... "Don't wait until the last minute...." , "Christmas Sale!", "Enjoy the Season"... The trees and bell are nice, but please, take down the haunted houses before you start putting up the Santa picture booth...
Three days past... what ever happened to twas the night before....
