Saotome Ranma
Ranma has a lot of pride in his martial arts ability, to the point of overconfidence at times. He does, though have some room to justify this. Though he isn't quite that intelligent in other matters, Ranma is incredibly adept at learning from his mistakes in a fight and fixing them the next time around. He possesses a great blend of the Chinese and Japanese styles of martial arts that is almost impossible to beat. Ranma is quick to prove himself, and will not back down from any type of fight, even if he is in danger of losing.
One thing that Ranma is definitely NOT good at, however is matters of the heart. He fumbles along with trying to express his feelings for Akane, but can't seem to get the words out. It comes out usually as an insult or a derogatory comment. Of course, Akane isn't the best conveyer of feelings herself, and Ranma's brash attitude and biting insults do not help this situation. At times, though, Ranma has shown that he too can be a nice guy, and despite first impressions that he's a little egotistical, he is nevertheless trying his best to deal with the situation he's been put in. |

Akane Tendo
Akane is a very strong-minded, and sometimes violent, girl. She can become angry and jealous, and is apt to hit Ranma a lot whenever this happens. But even though she does get angry, she does have a feminine side to her. She, having been raised in a family without a mother figure, has a hard time trying to sort out her feelings for Ranma. There is many a time when Akane is on the verge of telling Ranma what she really thinks. But it's almost always interrupted with something different every time. The rest of the time, she firmly denies any feelings for Ranma. In her own way, Akane could be seen as having male and female sides to herself (mentally), as Ranma does (physically). |

Shampoo
Shampoo can be very sweet and also very violent at times. Probably the most physically affectionate of Ranma's multiple fiancees, Shampoo has been known to attach herself onto Ranma at any given moment. Shampoo can, however be a ruthless Amazon, especially when it comes to fighting for Ranma. She has gotten into multiple fights with Ranma's other fiancees. Overall, Shampoo has the ability to be really cute and sweet and also the ability to be cold and heartless. She, like Ranma's other fiancees, is always trying to find a way to get her rivals out of the way so she can have Ranma to herself. |

Hibiki Ryoga
Ryoga is probably one of the charcters who suffers the most in Ranma 1/2. He rivals with Ranma, but also has a grudging respect for him as well, despite all of Ranma's jokes about his other name being P-Chan, among other things. Ryoga seems to have a better understanding of love than Ranma, but it is a love which is unrequited and at the same time highly idealistic (he has been known to fantasize about situations in which he wins Akane). He also has a high sense of honor, though he is forever looking for a way to get Ranma out of the picture - he holds to the code of martial arts while at the same time still being a fairly good person. Willing to defend who he cares about, he is quick to anger against anyone who threatens the weak. Ryoga could be said to be one of the "tragic heros" of the story, always suffering, but able to keep plugging away in the midst of angst. His situation in the storyline makes him susceptible to bouts of depression and indecision on what he should do.

Kunji Ukyou
Ukyou seems to be a nice girl, and unlike her other rivals, actually gets along a little with Akane. However, Ukyou would like nothing more than to be engaged to Ranma . Not quite as willing to openly plot against Akane and Ranma's engagement (like Shampoo is apt to do), Ukyou instead tries to break them up indirectly. There is a feeling that she absolutely hates to be double-crossed or betrayed, and hates the people who do such things. Sometimes, Akane and Ranma are unaware of her plotting because it backfires before it gets anywhere. She is probably the least violent of any of Ranma's fiancees, but that doesn't mean she can't get mad. Even though Ranma may not have feelings for Ukyou, Ukyou feels a close bond of friendship with Ran-chan, which Ranma, at least, gladly returns to his friend, whom he calls by the nickname "Ucchan".

Nabiki Tendo
Nabiki always has a biting sarcasm or a realistic, straightforward attitude about her that she employs in almost every situation that she observes in the Tendo dojo. Obviously a person who thinks of herself more than others at times. She isn't however, an evil person with malicious intent, merely someone out to make a profit, in one way or another, off of everything. Her success in these dealings obviously shows that she may be smarter than some people may give her credit for. Definitely not a martial artist like Ranma, Akane and company, Nabiki effectively compensates with her business intelligence and perception skills.

Kasumi Tendo
Kasumi is a very sweet, very optimistic girl when it comes to all situations. She can sometimes be oblivious to certain things, but by no means is she "out of it" as much. as some may make her out to be. Seemingly incapable of anger or any negative feelings, she seems to have a way of being nice to everyone. Definitely one of the more calmer members of the Tendo dojo in crisis situations.

Kodachi Kuno
Kodachi is very much like her brother, Tatewaki Kuno, but without the sense of honor or aloofness that he has. Kodachi has no scruples about using, paralysis gas, poison, nails, or any type of means possible to get what she wants. Kodachi is very determined about winning her darling Ranma away from Akane. It has been said her actions border on insanity, but "eccentric" seems to be a better adjective to describe her. A truly evil and backstabbing character, though in the comedic sense.

|
Tatewaki Kuno
Kuno is very eloquent in his speaking and generally has sort of a self-absorbed attitude as well as a huge ego. He pursues both Onna-Ranma and Akane with a fervor that could almost be called insane. This chasing of the two girls is the only time we see him get worked up and lose his cool, poetic, and calm demeanor. Kuno also has a high sense of honor, but he easily undermined or twisted to fit his own needs. Though maintaining that he is very different from his sister Kodachi, Kuno is really very much like her, though slightly more restrained.

Mousse
Mousse seems to be a normal guy, until you factor in that he worships Shampoo. Then things get complicated. Mousse has, many times, been as devious about winning Shampoo as Shampoo is about winning Ranma. He's tried countless times to get Ranma out of the way and has failed miserably every time. He seems to have almost as much pride as Ranma, but he's made it clear that he is ready to throw all that aside for Shampoo, whom he loves with a passion. The only reason that he seems like such an idiot sometimes is because he either doesn't have his glasses on or is near Shampoo.

Haposai
Happosai, though he claims to be the consummate martial artist, is the most immoral, perverted old man on the planet. He is continuously trying to touch girls or get close to them, especially Akane and Ranma (when in female form, that is). He is a notorious panty and bra thief and has stacks of them in his room at the Tendo dojo. At times, likes to pass the blame onto others to cover up his own actions. Not known to be someone who gets angry very easily unless one tries to stand in his way or foil one of his plans.

Genma Saotome
AGenma follows his own interpretation of the Anything-Goes Martial Arts code (which isn't exactly all that virtuous). Though he himself claims to be a model martial artist, and makes a point of telling Ranma about the right thing to do, it is evident that he does not practice what he preaches. He concerns himself with food, seems to look out for himself most of the time, and is a notorious coward when it comes to confrontational situations. He is by no means dishonorable, but he has been known to attempt to justify what he has done through ridiculous logic and pleading tones of language. In short, Genma does have a sense of honor, but is defninitely more willing to bend the rules more than the average martial artist.
Despite being cursed, Genma actually seems to like his panda form and goes about in public freely in it. He has even been known to use his panda form to get out of situations or otherwise use it to his advantage.

Soun Tendo
Soun is apt to being an emotional person, whether it be a tragic, happy, or, angry occasion. He cries at times, and also has been known to get very angry when his engagement of his daughter Akane to Ranma is being violated, threatened, or otherwise insulted in some way. Like Genma, Soun upholds a sense of honor, but is known to be inclined to bend the rules once in a while. His sometime cowardice in confronting situations also mirrors that of Genma. However, like Genma, Soun turns out to be a good person for the most part, and is looking forward to the day when Ranma and Akane might marry. |

Cologne
Cologne is very calm and collected, not to mention quite knowledgeable (obviously due to her age). She's apt to emphasize her seniority, and can back it up quite easily. Always trying to find a new way to get Ranma to marry Shampoo, Cologne pulls out plenty of tricks to try to attain her goals. She is honorable, however, and gives you the benefit of the doubt if you best her.

Ninomia Hinako
Hinako's personality changes depending on her form. In her child form, she acts mostly like a small child would - she talks in a high-pitched voice, has child-like needs and wants, and acts very childish and immature, although she still somehow manages to take her job as disciplinarian and teacher seriously while in this form. In her Adult form Hinako acts like a refined adult woman, and is mroe effective in her teaching methods. She can be gentle, but as an adult may also seem to have more of a cruel/mean streak about her because of her accelerated mind. Hinako is also obsessed with enforcing discipline and justice and Furinkan, and will do so at the drop of a hat if she feels someone is being a deliquent. Her primary target in this disciplining has been Ranma, who she wishes to take care of so that everyone else will fall in line.
