| ☺Story Overview |

| Fushigi Yuugi is a story about two junior
high school girls, Miaka and Yui, who gets absorbed into a book called "The
Universe of the Four Gods". |

| It all begins when Miaka and Yui went to
the National Library. Miaka sees a red bird and then decides to follow it into a
strange room in the library and discovers an ancient Chinese book called, "The
Universe of the Four Gods." Yui finds Miaka in the room and they started reading
the book.

| As they continued reading the book, a
strange red light appeared from it. Miaka and Yui found themselves in another
world. Miaka and Yui were attacked by some men, but then they were saved by a young
man named Tamahome. Miaka gets left behind in this world while Yui is transported
back into the library by the same red light. Miaka thought Tamahome had kidnapped
Yui, so she went into a city looking for him. |

| Meanwhile, Yui is back in the library and
she notices that everything she read in the book was what just happened to her and
Miaka! Strangely, as Yui continues reading "The Universe of the Four Gods", she
begins to experience the same things as Miaka does in the book. |

| Miaka soon realizes that she was the one
destined to become the Suzaku no Miko, the one to summon Suzaku in order to protect
Konan from evil. She must gather the seven guardians of Suzaku in order to protect
the Konan empire from a war, which was started by the neighboring country,
Kutou. |

| Miaka also falls in love with one of
Suzaku's guardians, Tamahome. Her best friend, Yui, gets absorbed back into the
book and was forced to become Seiryuu no Miko. Unfortunately for Miaka, Yui becomes
her enemy as well. Will Miaka and Yui ever become friends again? |
