Miaka Yuuki
Miaka is a junior high school student who is studying for her high school entrance exams. She has a big appetite and is often a klutz. Miaka is a very caring person, and
will often sacrifice herself to help others. When Miaka gets absorbed into the book "Universe of the Four Gods," she became Suzaku no Miko. She also fell in love with one of Suzaku's protectors, Tamahome. |

Tamahome( Sou Kishuku )
Tamahome is the oldest of five siblings. He has two younger brothers (Shunkei and Chuei) and two younger sisters (Gyokuran and Yuiren). His mother died when he was twelve and his father just became ill. Tamahome loves to make money, but he does it for his poor family. Tamahome soon overcomes his love of money when he realizes his feelings for Miaka. |

Nuriko( Chou Ryuuen )
Nuriko is actually a man, but he dresses up as a woman because of what happened in his past. Nuriko tries to get Hotohori, but he loves Miaka. He was rude to Miaka at first because Hotohori and Tamahome was paying more attention to her. |

Chichiri( Ri Houjin )
Chichiri is a wandering monk who has been trained in magic by Taiitsukun. He wears a mask with a smiling face because he has a scar across his left eye (has something to do with his past). He is often mischievious when he uses his magic freely. |

Tasuki
Tasuki's flaming head of hair is a true indicator of his personality. This former leader of the bandits of Mount Lekeika is not the most patient and serene person you will ever meet. Far from it, Tasuki is fiery, hot tempered, impatient, reckless, rash, arrogant, and women hating (due to living with a domineering mother and countless sisters!!)! BUT he's also courageous and loyal to the end!

Hotohori
Ever since Hotohori was a young child, he was groomed to become the Emperor. He assumed the throne at a young age when most boys were busy getting into mischief and discovering girls. Despite his young age, Hotohori is a ruler who cared deeply about the welfare of his people.

Chiriko
Chiriko is the youngest person to pass the government
board exam of Konan Country. He is very smart, but when the character on his foot fades, he becomes the average 13 year-old kid.

Mitsukake
Mitsukake is probably the bravest, most compassionate and silent person in Fushigi Yuugi. Mitsukake is tall, dark, and handsome man and a man of few words! When Miaka first met Mitsukake, she was stricken by a fatal diasese caused by a demon. In that village, there was a mysterious girl, Shoka, who was able to resurrect the people who died from this diasese. (And yet, she wasn't able to cure it!!) The Suzaku Senshi were told that there was no cure for the diasese. The best thing to do was to end Miaka's suffering so Shoka could resurrect her. But they had one last straw to grasp. The Suzaku Senshi heard of a mysterious man who lived in the mountain that might be able to cure her, so they went looking for him.
