White is a story about love, hate, revenge, equality and betrayal. It is intensely and beautifully written and acted. A man is divorced and humiliated by his wife; whom he still loves. The movie follows his life from that point -- from his ignoble return to his native Poland, to his financial rise and his reunion with his wife. The Colors Trilogy was made and named for the three colors of the French flag: Blue (Liberty), White (Equality) and Red (Fraternity). They each deal with the theme they were named with. White explores the concept of equailty, and it is interesting to watch the film through that lens. One of the things that really strikes me about this entire trilogy is their interconnection -- it is as if Kieslowski is reminding us that all of our stories are interconnected on many levels.
