To Live

To Live follows one family from the 1940s and the Chinese Civil War through the "Great Leap Forward" and the Cultural Revolution into the 1980s. Fugui (Ge You) and Jiazhen (Gong Li) live their lives in the tides of politics and cultural change. Through this family, we see how the force of history effects the common person. To Live is truly a beautiful film.
