Shadowlands

Shadowlands is a story about C.S. Lewis, Oxford don, noted Christian thinker and childrens' author and his wife, American poet Joy Gresham. It is the story of their love affair. Theirs is shown as a grand passion, but not in the traditional sense -- the sweep of their emotions is epic, but accessable. We are shown that they are the great love of each other's life, their love and friendship is overwhelming, and we know that that kind of love is available to us. That is why I love this movie. It me feel that truly, "The pain then is a part of the joy now". On a less emotional note, I have to say that I found the exploration of trust, love, pain and their interconnection to be truly fascinating. Not only that, but the acting is well done, and the film is beautifully shot.
