Much Ado About Nothing

This movie, directed by Kenneth Branagh, tells the story of two young lovers, Hero and Claudio, who conspire to get their best friends to marry. Benedick (Branagh) and Beatrice (Emma Thompson), cordial enemies, who may be more enemy than cordial, (humerously, of course) fall for their scheme. The fairy tale goes awry when Don John the Bastard (Played by a passingly awful Keanu Reeves) decides to take some kind of obscure revenge on his brother, Don Pedro of Aragon (Played by a brilliant and beautiful Denzel Washington) by derailing the marriage of his best friend Claudio. Like all good fairy tales, everything comes right in the end, though. Filmed on location (as it were) in Italy, this film is a lush visual ecstasy. It is a beautiful, romantic, light comic romance.
