1 medium seedless orange
24 whole cloves
2 C red wine
2 C apple cider
1/4 C sugar
2 t grated lemon peel
2 slices peeled fresh gingerroot
1 small stick cinnamon
1/4 t ground nutmeg
1/4 t ground allspice
Cut orange into 8 wedges. Insert 3 cloves into rind of each wedge. Set aside. Combine remaining ingredients in 3-quart saucepan. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add orange wedges. Bring mixture to simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. (Do not boil.) Reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 10 minutes to blend flavors. Serve warm.
