Letter

Dear Educator,

Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to allow us to include your class in our social action project. We hope that this project will impact you and your students and persuade you to become social activists.

Our project is an awareness campaign in which we hope to inform students about our topic, modern slavery-- forced child labor. We plan to do this through multimedia. We also plan to design a curriculum that will hopefully be used to teach students about modern slavery. The curriculum specifically addresses the topic of child slavery.

Because of our research we have developed an acute awareness of the social dilemma of forced child labor. We have also become passionate about social activism to address the problem. The visuals for out project and the clothes we all wear every day. The awareness we hope to raise is that children in sweatshops make these clothes. We believe the project is more valuable to middle school students because the topic may be a little too sensitive for elementary school children. Plus, there are approximately 7,000 middle school students in our district, enough to make a strong impact in raising social awareness. Middle school students also find it really important to wear the "right" kind of clothing from the "right" company.
