"What do we do?!" Greg asked Danny.
"We gotta get out of here!" Danny coughed as the smoke began to pile into the room. Danny and Greg ran from the fire in the Pastor's Room and over to the group. They were all coughing.
"Where are we gonna go?!" Frankie coughed.
"The windows!" Shaun pointed.
"They are too high!" Melissa screamed.
"Get the chairs on the stage!" Allen instructed," We gotta break down the doors!" One by one they all ran on the stage and grabbed the wood chair. The ran to the main doors and slammed them into the doors. The chair caught fire with each one, but the door was breaking more and more with each hit. Finally, Danny and Francisco ran at the door past all the burning chair and jumped into the air, diving chairs first into the doors the chairs hit the doors hard and they gave in with a huge hole in the middle of them. The burning chairs hurt Danny and Francisco, and they dropped them as they rolled down the stone stairs that led up to the door.
Shrieks came up from the sky. Danny and Francisco fought to get to their feet, though it took longer than they were hoping. They looked into the air to see vampires floating above them, all smiling. One at a time each member of their group jumped through the door and rolled down the stairs. Danny and Francisco looked up at the sky. The vampires had forced them into escape.
"They are out here!" Francisco yelled at everyone as they jumped through. Nobody cared though. It was either stay and the church and either burn or suffocate, or jump through the hole and try to evade the vampires that were waiting patiently for them. A boy was crying next to the stairs. Danny and Francisco helped Frankie to his feet as he jumped through the hole, and they all looked at the stairs. Stevie was slumped against them, holding his throat tight and crying his eyes out.
"Stevie!" Frankie said.
"They bit me and dropped me so they could get you!" Stevie sobbed. He was really beaten up, looking as though he was in an extreme amount of pain. Frankie walked over to him and helped him to his feet.
"It's ok, Stevie, we're here now," Frankie comforted him. He smiled to him helpfully. Shaun jumped through the hole and stood to his feet, staring at Frankie and Stevie.
"Thanks," Stevie said and released his throat. Frankie put his hand on Stevie's shoulder and smiled as Mary Kate and Ashley took turns jumping through the hole.
"Does that hurt?" Danny asked him, pointing at his scar.
"Not really," Stevie forced a smile. Lastly, Chrissy jumped out of the hole.
"Really? Gee, that's funny because vampires bite you in your jugular so you can't do much. Then they don't stop sucking your blood because otherwise you won't be as fresh anymore. Even if they did stop you'd bleed to death, not to mention the fact that you wouldn't be able to breathe with a hole in your jugular I doubt they'd allow you to keep walking unless you were-."
"Sired?" Stevie asked as he vamped. Frankie slowly looked at him. Frankie quickly grabbed his arm and bit down into it.
"AHH! UGH! HELP ME!" Frankie cried, trying to pull his arm away. Stevie smiled into the bite, and released him, twisting his arm and pulling Frankie closer as Danny aimed his crossbow at him.
"You fire you kill him!" Stevie told him. Danny kept his aim, however. Stevie bent Frankie's neck to the side, exposing that warm skin that was Frankie's neck.
"Don't bite him!" Hilary begged. Stevie smiled an evil grin.
"Why not? That warm blood moving through his veins is just calling to me. You know, you guys wouldn't mind being vampires. Besides the fact that you get to suck on blood, it's pretty cool. You get superstrength, you can float. Man, your senses even increase to their full amount!"
"You don't know what you're doing!" Greg told Stevie, looking up at the sky. The vampires were just watching. They seemed to be waiting for something.
"I don't know, you guys...his blood is just calling my name..." Stevie said to them. Hilary was crawling in the tears that were falling from her eyes.
"Stevie, listen to me!" Aaron said.
"No, I think I'd rather listen to that blood of his going down my throat!" Stevie roared, and bit into Frankie's neck. Frankie cried out and closed his eyes from the pain. A tear fell from his face. Greg ran over to Frankie's side, and with that, the vampires dived again. Greg stopped in his tracks, and the vampires did too.
"Oh man! We have to watch this?!" Chris yelled. Frankie was in an intense amount of pain, but Danny knew he'd only be alive for a few more seconds.
Then a shadow of navy blue dived out the window of the church. Paulo! He hadn't jumped through the hole! He had his stake right in front of him, and was diving straight toward Stevie's heart from the back. He hit his target, and Stevie released Frankie.
"You don't have much ti..." Stevie was cut off as he turned to dust. Paulo fell on the cement and struggled to his feet. He knew he couldn't linger. Frankie slumped into Paulo's arms just as the vampires dived toward them again.
"Leave me..." Frankie said.
"No!" Hilary screamed.
"Just go!" Paulo said, "I'll protect him until..." he stopped abruptly.
"No! Paulo!" Aaron gasped.
"I'm sorry Aaron! Just go!" Paulo yelled. They all nodded and ran off down the street. As he began to run, Danny was stopped by Frankie's hand. Danny looked at him.
"Thank you guys for...teaching me....how stubborn I was..." Frankie said with a small smile. He was gasping for air.
"You're not...you fought well...I'm glad I got to meet you..." Danny comforted him.
"Likewise..." Frankie got out before all the air left him, and he slumped in Paulo's arms. He was still alive, but barely. He couldn't talk anymore.
"Run!" Paulo told Danny. Danny nodded and took off down the street after the rest of his friends.
"Danny! We gotta hold the line!" Greg said as Danny caught up. Greg had stopped at Will's body and was taking all the metal stakes into his pocket. Danny nodded and aimed up at the sky. He aimed his crossbow at the nearest vampire, and Greg did the same thing to another, and together they fired.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Where are we going?" Adam asked.
"I don't know!" Amanda said as they continued to run.
"We're going to the mansion!" Francisco said.
"Why?!" Allen asked him as they ran.
"That's where the underground layer for the vampires are. We go in there, lure them out, and bring them into the sunlight."
"If we survive!" Lalaine cried.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Ok! We did as many as we could!" Danny said to Greg. Greg nodded. They did what they could.
"Let's run!" Greg read Danny's mind. They smiled and sprinted off down the street after the group. They were a good ways ahead, but from the direction they were headed and the shadow in the distance, Danny knew exactly where they were going. The mansion.
"Francisco is crazy!" Danny yelled to Greg.
"Why is that?" Greg asked.
"He's taking us to the mansion! Where the vampires call home!" Danny told him.
"What the hell?!" Greg said as they picked up the pace to catch up. The vampires were flying fast, and they weren't slowing down.
"You know, we should be super strong now!" Greg said to Danny as they were nearly caught up.
"Why is that?" Danny asked him.
"Because we just killed tons of vampires," Greg smiled to him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You want us! Come and get us!" Paulo yelled at the vampires as Greg and Danny began shooting at the flying vampires. The vampires near himself dived toward him. Paulo pulled his sword out of his pants and held it into the air. He laid Frankie on the ground and jumped into the air, sliding his sword into the head of a diving vampire. The vampire roared and turned to dust. Paulo pulled his sword down to his side and threw it back into the air, slicing off another diving vampire's head. He pulled it down once more and jabbed it into the heart of a different one. Both vampires dusted. Paulo looked over and Greg and Danny. They were taking out tons of vampires, and the ones that were coming after himself and Frankie were now going to aide their fallen allies.
Paulo smiled and waved at Danny and Greg, though they did not see him because they had turned to run. He looked in the direction the group was running, and nodded. The huge mansion at the end of the street was where Danny just pointed. He slid his sword back in his pants and walked over to Frankie, only to be grabbed by a remaining creature of the night that had been hiding in the alley.
