Chapter 11

"Get to the church!" Paulo yelled as they went straight into a nose dive. Shrieks came from all directions, even in the direction of the church.

"Me and Will will hold them off!" Danny said, as everyone ran around the two of them and down the street. Danny aimed up into the air, and pulled his crossbow's trigger. The arrow went tearing into the sky, and into the heart of one of the vampires. It dusted, and the arrow fell back down toward the ground. Will shot too, but his shot missed.

"I think we should run now!" Will said.

"Right!" Danny said. Both of them turned around and sprinted after their friends. Shrieks followed them from behind. Danny knew instantly the majority of the survivors wouldn't make it out of the night, he knew that, but half of them weren't going to even make it to the church. Not unless they all fought skillfully, and unfortunately, most didn't know how to fight skillfully at all.

"Which way?!" Ashley Lewis screamed from somewhere up at the front.

"Make a left!" Paulo said. The vampires were catching up fast. They'd hit the back first, starting with Will and Danny. The group made a left as they came up to the corner.

"AHHH!" Will screamed from next to Danny. Danny looked over to him with sympathy. Will had gotten grabbed by his shoulders and was now rising into the air. Danny held his crossbow tight, and lifted it into the air as his ran, trying to aim it at the vampire that had Will. His finger pulled back slowly on the trigger, just as he was grabbed by the underarms himself. In shock, his finger pulled the trigger back completely, and the arrow went into Will instead of the vampire. Will gasped, as did Danny as he was being raised into the air. He looked up and saw something he didn't like. The vampire that had him.

"Hullo, poppet!" the vampire said. It was the woman that had gotten bit by the vampire the first night they got into Salem.

"Let me go!" Danny yelled at her. She giggled.

"I will," the woman said, "Once I suck the life out of ya!" Danny struggled with her as she made a sharp left, following after the group that he should have been on the ground with. Instead, he was 18 feet in the air.

"I'll take your blood and drop you on your friends, that way the rest of us can get them. Since you spoiled my boyfriend's meal he'll get to eat more than everyone else!" Danny looked over to Will. He was dead, his head dragged to the side with his eyes closed. Then he looked up at the vampire. Indeed...it was the man who had sired the woman. Danny looked away, and saw the church two buildings down. Will still held the crossbow, his nerves would not allow him to let go of it.

"Let's eat, shall we?" the female vampire said to Danny. She lowered her head to his neck.

"Let's not!" Danny said, shifting his head and hitting the vampire in the face. She moaned and released one of her arms from his armpits. He dangled from her, but grabbed the arm tight with his free hand. The other held his crossbow. The vampire's floatation shifted toward Will. The vampire screamed as she lost her balance in the air. Her face still hurt as well. Danny stumbled up the vampire's back and sat on top of her.

"Get off of me!" she groaned as she flew toward's Will. Her boyfriend looked at her oddly and shrieked at Danny. Danny sat his crossbow on the female vampire and took Will's as he went past him. He aimed it at her boyfriend and pulled it, the metal stake tearing through the air with a tseer! It impaled his body, going through his heart. He shrieked again as he became dust. Will's body dropped into the air, and slammed on a vampire that was flying lower than he was. The vampire collapsed and skidded across the ground. Danny smiled at this chaos, and frown when he looked in front of himself. They were heading straight toward the glass window of the church.

"OH SHIT!" Danny said. The female vampire tried to pull up and change directions, but Danny was on her back and he stopped her from doing it. She shrieked as she collided with the window. It shattered upon impact, and both of them went flying through it. Slowly, her skin caught fire. Danny yelped as the fire caught onto his shirt. He rolled off of her and hit the ground hard. He rolled from the impact, the fire going out on his shirt. Finally, he came to a stop. He pulled his head into the air and watched as the female vampire collided with the cross on the wall. She held onto it for support so she could take off and fly again, but her hands burned worse. She released it, and as she fell back toward the carpet, she burned completely into dust.

Danny's crossbow rolled on the ground next to him. He looked at it. It was safe. And so was he. The doors of the chapel flew open and the group went piling in, one after one. Lastly, Chrissy walked inside in tears. She slammed the doors shut, the vampires all pulling up before they went inside.

"What happened?" Danny asked.

"Stevie. He got taken by the vampires," Rachel said. She shook her head and sat on one of the benches.

"Nobody got his axe," Allen said as he collapsed on the floor.

"He tried to fight the vampire with it, but it overpowered him," Aaron explained. Everyone looked pretty beaten up. Danny guessed that they had all got picked up at one point or another, but had gotten away somehow.

"Anybody else missing?" Danny asked. They shook their heads.

"Well, Greg, here you go," Danny said, giving him the crossbow that Will had used.

"Where are the rest of the stakes?" Greg asked him.

"Will had them strapped to his belt. He's dead...his body is outside, though..." Danny added. Everyone scoffed.

"So we stayed here and fought for what purpose? Look at what's happening! One by one we're getting picked off!" Frankie complained.

"Stop the noise!" Chrissy said.

"Seriously! This would have happened one way or another anyway," Francisco informed them. They didn't seem to care.

"You know, most of you are nothing but a bunch of stuck up celebrities who only care about yourselves! We have to save the world or-," Danny started.

"That is so cliche!" Amanda Bynes blew him off.

"Shut the hell up and let him talk!" Melissa said, "He's right! All you care about is your own safety but if you haven't realized it after how many times he's said it, this is inevitable! You can run but you'll still die!"

"I'd rather die trying to save my life than to-," Adam Lamberg started.

"Shut up!" Aaron yelled at him, "You're doing nothing but proving his point! You're sitting here and complaining about how you'd rather be running than fighting! Well, you play people who save the world all the time in movies and such! You are role models for little kids! Do you want to teach them to run from their problems? It's time to suck up your problems and stick up for humanity!"

"Exactly!" Danny chimed in, "You gotta get yourselves together!"

"It's that kind of separation that got Stevie killed!" Melissa pointed out to them. The group went silent. They were speaking the truth. They were acting very selfish. They were only caring about themselves instead of each other, and in order to get the maximum amount of people to survive, they'd have to be a stronger group and care more for each other than themselves.

A crash came from the preacher's room in the back of the church. Mary Kate and Ashley looked at each other.

"Did you hear that?" they asked together.

"Sounded like a crash," they said again.

"It was," Chris Trousdale said.

"Why would that happen?" Shaun asked.

"Maybe something fell," Lalaine suggested.

"Maybe something happened," Hilary imagined.

"Maybe-," Shia started.

"Guessing is not helping us!" Paulo said, "Let's go investigate!"

"Hell no!" Frankie Muniz shook his head.

"Vampires can't come in the church!" Ashley Lewis pointed out.

"But they can destroy one!" Chrissy screeched.

"Oh no!" Amanda covered her mouth.

"Me and Danny will investigate since we have long distance weapons," Greg suggested. He and Danny stood up and walked toward the back doors with the crossbows in their hands.

"Hey, Danny, just in case we don't make it out of here," Greg said as he walked, laughing, "I love ya man." He and Danny both laughed at this small human and kicked the door hard. The heat hit them hard. They both covered their faces with their free hands and looked into the room. The group was already screaming from behind them. A blanket of flames covered the room, which was made entirely out of wood. Greg and Danny looked at each other and turned on their heels. Before they could tell the others what had happened, they noticed a fire at the front doors of the chapel. It burned on the wooden doors quickly, spreading through the carpet.

"Oh...damn!" Danny said.
