"Oh, my God! Oh, my God!" Lalaine was panicking in the passenger seat, rocking back and forth with her hands over her mouth.
"We knew this was coming..." Francisco said.
"And Allen's leaving next. Someone call him! Tell him not to leave the dormitory, and we'll be there in a few minutes," Danny instructed. Aaron reached in his pocket, pulled out his cell phone, and dialed Allen's number. They went into conversation, but Lalaine was still panicking.
"Lalaine, it'll be alright," Danny comforted.
"Elise is dead! Elise is dead! I had to watch her die and I couldn't do anything about it!" Lalaine screamed at the top of her lungs.
"If we can figure out how to stop this, we have a chance at winning!" Francisco told her.
"It doesn't matter! I had to watch my family die in that chapel and one by one my friends are dying! My whole world is turning upside down and everybody's falling off except me! I'm calling Kelly!" Lalaine reached in her pocket and pulled out her cell phone. Danny swerved in the middle of the street and stopped. Lalaine dropped her cell phone and looked up. What was going on?
"That light almost fell on us!" Danny yelled, pointing at the street light. Except, he was pointing at the ground, and everyone else saw that the street light was still attached.
"Uh, Danny, that light is still on the wire..." Francisco tapped him on the shoulder.
"Oh no..." Danny said, looking at the ground he was pointing at and then up to the wire. They were right, the light didn't fall.
"What is it?" Lalaine asked.
"Francisco! Aaron! There's a Cingular Wireless right across the street! Go in there and get enough cell phones for the survivors!" he told them.
"And me!" Lalaine said, pointing at the broken rubble on the floor of the car that was her cell phone.
"Yeah, mine is broken too," Aaron said, "I didn't have time to tell Allen to stay inside. I was too busy telling him we were almost there."
"Oh no! Hurry! Get out! Catch the bus back to the school!" Danny yelled. With a nod, Aaron and Francisco hopped out of the car (girls screaming as they noticed Aaron) and ran across the street into the Cingular Wireless store.
"Where are we-AHH!" Lalaine screamed as Danny pulled off suddenly.
"We're going to the dormitories! Allen is going to die!" Danny yelled. They were just around the corner from the college.
"Take the wheel!" Danny told Lalaine. She did as she was told. She grabbed the steering wheel, leveling it. Danny hopped in the backseat of the convertible. He could see Allen sitting on the corner of the parking lot, waving at them with a smile on his face.
"Allen! Watch out!" Lalaine tried to scream at him. He didn't hear her. A screech came from the wire above him, a wire holding a street light. Lalaine screamed.
"Drive directly past him!" Danny said. She did so. He looked at her oddly, as Lalaine's speed was increasing. The streetlight was bobbing, almost loose.
"Guys, what are you-?" Allen began to ask as the car approached. Another screech came from the wire as it snapped. Allen's head snapped as well, looking up at the wire as it fell toward the ground, and so did the street light. Falling through the air, directly above him.
"NOOOOO!" Lalaine yelled as she came close enough to pass him. With a gasp, Allen tried to move. His body wouldn't allow it. Danny stood in the convertible, and jumped out. Allen gasped again as the street light barely missed him, Danny tearing through the air with Allen on his shoulder. He had speared him, taking him out of the way of the light, with crashed next to them but killed no one. Allen looked at the light and groaned in surprise.
"Dammit, boy, you gotta be careful!" Danny yelled. He looked at Lalaine, who was still driving through the parking lot at a quick pace. The car wasn't stopping. It looked as though Lalaine was trying to use the breaks, but nothing was happening. A car began backing out of the parking area. With a scream, Lalaine stood up and jumped out of the convertible. Just as it made collision with the car that was backing out. Both cars exploded. Lalaine backed away from the scene, then got to her feet, and ran over to Danny and Allen.
"Allen, we need a place to lie low," Danny told him.
"I have a place, but you can't go until tomorrow," Allen said.
"Why?" Lalaine asked.
"The meeting. You can stay in my dormitory for tonight," Allen said, still in shock. He was looking at the broken light with extreme hatred and fear. The sound of sirens was approaching. Danny and Allen got to their feet. Allen reached in his pocket, and pulled out a key.
"Here, here's the key." he said.
Danny took it, and hugged Allen tight.
"Thanks man," he said in his ear. They let go.
"I'll come back for you later," Allen said.
"No, you gotta come with us. Francisco and Aaron are on their way back to the dorms with enough cell phones for everyone who survived," Lalaine said.
"I couldn't get ahold of Elise," Allen confessed.
"You won't need to. She's dead," Danny said. Allen's eyes stretched.
"Come on! Before the police see us!" Lalaine dragged them away from the scene and into the dormitory.
