Mugen MT 105 Formula 1 Racing Engine Oil

Engine Treatment Oil - MT 105 has been developed as a part of Mugen engine components and is used for racing engines including F-1 engines such as those used by the Jordan team.

1. Prevents mechanical loss of engine power and reduces mechanical noise as well.
An engine is composed of a great number of components. Even with racing engines built with highly precise components, such moving parts as valves and pistons can not escape from the friction loss. Molybdenum which is a major ingredient of MT 105 is quickly penetrated into the metal friction surface and makes a smooth metal surface by forming a strong lubricating surface which in turn reduces the friction resistance and minimizes the loss of engine power as a result. At the same time, by holding the rise of the metal surface friction temperature, it stabilizes the oil temperature, reduces the metal friction noise and as a result improves engine durability.

2. Improves Fuel Economy.
Lubrication film formed by MT 105 provides continuous performance and as a result, it also improves fuel economy.

3. Protection of engine wear as well as improvement of its durability.
MT 105 penetrating into the metal surface forms a strong protective film for a long time, protects the metal friction surface, prevents its wear, and it not only improves engine durability but also contributes to a longer engine life.

MT 105 PROTECTION

The chart on the right shows the result of a measurement made on the barrel surface section of a piston ring (where it contacts with the cylinder bore surface) after a durability test on an engine dynamometer. The pictures indicate the surface and were taken with an electronic microscope (of 1,000x magnification).

The chart that used MT 105 (top chart)  shows no friction wear and the surface is clean. The section shows no change from the condition before the test.

On the other hand, the chart that did not use MT 105 (bottom chart) shows the surface worn out of about 3um and also clearly shows a number of the worn out grooves.

Observing these results, it has been proved that MT 105 protects the metal surface and lowers the friction.
