MUGEN PROFILE & HISTORY

Mugen was founded in 1973 by Hirotoshi Honda and began its business activities as an engine supplier of FJ1300. Subsequently, the activities were expanded by participating in motorcycle motocross races and supplying engines to such races as F-2, KART and Group A, which made the name of "MUGEN" widely known as both engine supplier and racing team.

In 1987, Mugen began supplying racing engines to F3000 and F-3 races and with its very successful results, it was firmly established as a racing engine supplier. In the same year, Mugen had completed an entirely new factory with the introduction of the latest machining tools, which greatly strengthened their development and production capabilities. In 1992, Mugen began participating in the F-1 races as an engine supplier, realizing its dream of many years. In 1996, Ligier-Mugen-Honda won its first F-1 Grand Prix race in Monaco. Further in 1998, Jordan-Mugen-Honda achieved the 1-2 finish at the Belgian Grand Prix, the second victory for Mugen and the first victory for Jordan.

Mugen, while being active in various races, has been developing and has introduced many tune-up and sports parts for Honda cars, such as exhaust parts, aero parts and aluminum wheels, basing on the technologies gained through the development of racing engines and racing cars on Honda cars. Mugen ("Unlimited" in English) is always challenging the unlimited possibilities and trying to enhance the motor sports as well as the world of enjoyment.
