In Praise of Knights

Virtues
Knights
You will often be afraid when you see your enemies charging you, their lances in rest to strike you and their swords drawn to attack you. Bolts and arrows fly at you and you do not know how to protect yourself. Now you see men slaying each other, fleeing, dying and being taken prisoner; while your friends' corpses lie before you. Your horses, though, are not dead, and you could escape. With them, you could save your life, and none would know. If you remain, you will be honored forever more. If you escape, you will dishonor yourself. Is this not a terrible choice?
