HISTORY:
I have been an amateur radio operator since 1953 when I was was licensed at 13 years old as W1JCS in Connecticut. In 1986, after moving to North Carolina, I became KB4URZ and then KN4UG. At my home QTH in Cary, NC. I operate a Kenwood TS 950 SD and limited antenna. I have a Ten-meter beam and a multi-band Dipole.
DXpeditions:
Since 1990 I have been traveling and operating in some "vacation" DX places sunce and the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands. I usually travel with my buddy Harry, KB4IRS, and we mix DXing with golf, snorkeling and just getting away from it all. Please visit the links below to see more information about some of our travels and operations.
CONTESTING:
While I do not operate many contests from home, I have had lots of fun in VP5-land operating a variety of contests. I have used the call VP5A in some contests in the past but now use VP5AZ. Hope you will look for me this December in the ARRL 10 meter contest as VP5AZ.
