Animating a 2 Cylinder Motor


  1. SPEEDING UP THE ROTATION OF THE PUMP (cont'd)

      NOTE: Your pump is now a 1 cylinder engine.

  2. CREATING A 2ND. CYLINDER AT 90o
    1. Make a second copy of the 1st set of objects: Shaft, Piston, Case,
      and CamPoint using the clone command and call the copy the 3rd
      set of objects.
    2. select First select by name
      TOPpinassembly3rdset

      the old CamPoint and restrict motion to XYaxes.
    3. In the 'Front View port' move the 2nd set of objects to a suitable
      location on a line horizontal and through the center of the wheel,
      left or right side. And in the 'Top View port' move the shafts so
      that they are apart but on the Pin approximately.
    4. rotate Select the rotation
      icon and restrict rotation to the Y-axes.
    5. In the 'Perspective View' carefully place your cursor on the
      CamPoint of the 2nd set and nudge it gently up or down to rotate
      the entire set till the shaft is pointing to the center of the wheel, as
      shown at right.
      NOTE:
      You can continue to copy the 2nd set to get 2 horizontal cylinders
      or make a 3 cylinder engine - that's up to you.
    6. run Click the run animation button to see your animation
      - it still needs a lot of fine tuning.
    7. runing Shut off animation with the off button.
