The teacher provides appropriate instruction that actively engages students in the learning process.

Explanation, Reflection, & Evidence: Teachers should be able to engage students in learning in ways that are meaningful the students. Connections have to be made in order for the find relevance in learning concepts and the teacher must be able to help the students make those connections. Teachers must also be knowledgeable of the students� learning styles in order to make learning meaningful for the students. Teachers must use various instructional methods and grouping arrangements to meet the students� needs. Teachers also must know appropriate assessment techniques to assess for mastery. Session 1 Book Club Discussion and Session 6 Book Club Discussion provides activities that actively engage students in the learning process. The I-Search Paper explains how teachers can engage students in acquiring a broad vocabulary base.
