| Competency 5 The teacher knows how to establish a classroom climate that fosters learning, equity, and excellence and uses this knowledge to create a physical and emotional environment that is safe and productive. Explanation, Reflection, & Evidence: Teachers must be knowledgeable of ways to make the classroom environment conducive to learning for all children. Teachers must be aware of the physical classroom space, grouping of students, students� learning styles, as well as the demographics of the classroom in order for instruction to be effective. Teachers must be able to use various instructional methods to present instruction in a way the all students have the opportunity to learn. Students are aware of the workings of the classroom and know that they can take risks in safe environment. Session 2 RR&D discusses how the classroom environment and expectations of the students create a positive learning environment for students.
