| Competency 10 The teacher monitors student performance and achievement, provides students with timely, high quality feedback, and responds flexibly to promote learning for all students. Explanation, Reflection, & Evidence: Teachers must be knowledgeable of various assessment methods. Timely feedback should be provided to students and assessments should be aligned to goals of the lesson as well as TEKS. Teachers should have high expectations for learning and should be flexible. Teachers should adjust instruction toward student needs in relation to assessments. Teachers should also teach students to be accountable for their learning and how to monitor and think about their learning. Session 3 Book Club Discussion discusses the need for teachers to use alternative assessments when necessary to assess students� mastery of concepts.
