Atos ECU Training
Testimonial 1 (GLM)(by Phuah Yee Keat) Hi All. Met with ACT president on Saturday. Initial comments for my car (GLM) is that our engine seems to be softer than Taiwan's Atos. And he commented that its advisable for me to change my suspension system to KYB, which cost around RM800 in Taiwan, not sure how much here. Generally, he seemed quite ok with my car, while I was driving, so after some distance from KLIA->PJ, I let him test drive it, not realising that me and arrsoo are going on a terror ride! We asked him to show us how to "train" the ECU, and he said OK. Off goes gear 1, vroooooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmm, until around 30-40km/h, switch to gear 2, whole car jerked quite heavily because of gear change under high rev, vroooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, until around 70km-80km/h, change to gear 3, engine felt like screaming, both me and arrsoo are just shocked! vrooommmmmmmmmmmmmm again, reached 120km/h in gear 3!!! Wow, previously I thought its good enough for my 4th gear to be able to reach 110km/h, then only I know that was nothing at all. Off to gear 4, and he off the air-cond, and vrooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, again, after around 5-10 seconds, managed to reach a top speed of 160km/h. 3 person in the car, in Gear4!! I was so surprised, asked why he does not use gear 5, he said, the car woulld not be able to reach 160km/h in gear 5, so when they all are "racing" with other cars, they don't use gear 5 normally. Gear 5 are used during normal driving to improve FC. After driving like that for around 500m-1km, second style of training, changed down to gear 3, and hentam the accelerator, until it reaches around 120km/h, then let go of the accelerator, the car slow down, until around 100-110km/h, and then hentam the accelerator again, did this 5-10 times. That's almost it, another thing that he showed us, at high speed around 70-80km/h, pressed the brake (but not until emergency brake) on-off, on-off, for like 5 times, he mentioned that it can cleaned off the oxidised ingredients on the brake plates. Ok, that's almost all for the training part! Once we reached Taman Megah, he did opened up the Bonnet and have a look, he also showed me 5 points where the ground wires should connect to, I will try to do it this coming weekend if I am free. Hopefully I can still remember where the points are, arrsoo, you can remember also right? :) Cheers, Phuah Yee Keat oh yeah, forgot to say, after he "trained" the car, I took over for a test drive, it felt a lot lighter, throttle seems more responsive, and the engine seems more revvable. |
Testimonial 2 (GLM)(by Soo) It was my GLM's turn for the checking & training on the way sending him back to KLIA THE CHECK: I was advised to have my absorber check( after a few push & test), some rubber belt to be changed (after hearing some chit-chit noise during cold start) & front alignment to be done after some inspections. He was quite attentive to our cars & i am really surprised that he did notice my clutch problem which I had (krokkk sound - complaint but not fixed by Glenmarie SC) although the sound was soft when i was driving. THE TRAINING: My car was trained the way he trains Yee Keat's car. Vrooommmmm all the way to 155-160km/h at 4th gear. He was quite impressed with it given that I have not rev my car above 110 km/h before this (I will already be in 5th gear by 80km/h all the time when i drive). Boy, I really felt the difference almost immediately, very responsive & pick up improved as well. Now I can vroommmm with confidence by myself, hehehe. We were told to have our car trained this way once a month (must off aircond & radio) in order to have better FC & power. Yes, train once a month will do to teach the ecu & maybe once in a while rev a bit in 1st,2nd or 3rd gear (i guess so that the ecu remember) and then drive as usual. Tested my car the very next day to see if the power is still there & to my surprise, I can still feel the power & then back to my old driving habit of light footed on gas & whenever I felt pick up lacking, I rev a bit in 2nd or 3rd gear, power is back again. hehehe this is so shiokkk....but fc dunno yet lor. Well, must admit we felt a bit sakit hati when he vroommm our car to 160km/h but when we see the confidence in him, we know we are in good hand. Not bad for a left hand drive driver to speed on our road & sapu corner with Tracky's GLA. That was really scarry!!!! Next project is to do grounding. :) |
Testimonial 3 (GLA)(by Phuah Yee Keat) I will attempt to note down what I remember. Joey trained Tracky's GLA in two ways, the first way is to corner at high speed (around 40-50km/h), according to him, when our car is slanted, the ECU will automatically attempt to slow down the car to prevent tumbling over. What he did is just press the accelerator even harder to let the ECU not to slow down the engine. Second way, the gear change from 2->3 (or issit 1->2) is at around 40km/h - 50km/h. Just drive like normal, but once the gear changed, press the accelerator to the end to force the gear to downshift, and then accelerate for the next 10km/h, and then release it, repeat for 5 times. For example, accelerate normally until speed reaches 40km/h, gear automatically shifted up, straight away press down the accelerator to make the gear downshift, and then continue pressing until the speed reaches 50km/h, and then fully release the accelerator, until the speed drops back to 40km/h, and then repeat the whole process for 5 times. After this sequence, it is said that the ECU will only shift up a gear after 50km/h. Soo, anything that I missed out? Tracky, write up please. :) |
Testimonial 4 (GLA)(by Tracky) Atos New Experience wit ACT 's president!!! he is really fantastic driver! just same as PYK said... 1st low speed (10-40KM/H) turning.just like 8 he drive.. starting quite scary... cause he treat my atos as left hand driving car... then i tell him other way... then he skill become control... he is very Confidence wit the FAST SPEED CONERING... i means U-Turn! then mid speed train.. 30-40KM/H.... just like PYK mention above... so how do u guys feel of my ATos Performance? i means b4 Train... soo/PYK... |
