Old Schoolhouse
The After Five club has given countless hours of labor to an old country schoolhouse which was moved from a hillside near Dickens, Iowa to the Riverview Park area.  This Kiwanis led project hopes to restore the building to its original condition upon which time it would be turned over to the Spencer Parks and Recreation Department for public viewing.

Valentine Senior Outing
For a number of years, the After Five club under the direction of Nancy Ketchum has helped with a Valentines Night Out for residents of the St. Luke Lutheran Senior Facility, Riverview Terrace.  Club Members are decked out in suits and boe ties to serve dinner and wine to the residents of the facility.  Special entertainment is also featured.

Kiwanis One Day Cleanup
In conjunction with the City of Spencer Spring Cleanup, Spencer After Five club members join for a Kiwanis One Day to clean up areas around the Spencer Aquatic Center in southeast Spencer.  Bags and Bags of winter debrie are picked up from areas around the park and beyond.

Building "The Nest"
Once a month members bring items to stock "The Nest" from Upper Des Moines Opportunity Early Head Start.  These items are then available to young mothers through a point system.  The club collects items such as:
Day-to-day items
: Health and Beauty Items for children and adults such as Toilet Paper; Kleenex; Paper Towels; Safety Items; Diapers; Baby wipes.  Big items:  Car Seats - Infant & Toddlers; Car Booster Seats; High chair booster seats; Potty chairs; Step Stools.   As Michelle Koppen of UDMO Early Head Start has stated in the past… “Our families enjoy anything and are so appreciative of everything that you donate".

Adopt a Flower Bed
The city of Spencer Parks and Recreation Department came up with a way for service clubs in town to help in beautification through their Adopt-a-Flower Bed initiative.  Clubs, Businesses and Individuals adopt a flower bed located in the median of Grand Avenue, just north of downtown.  The planning and planting is headed up each year by club member Gary Holck with the bed located in front of Hy-Vee.  Through the summer months members weed, feed and water and colorful display.
