After Five - News of the Club
A
GREAT Year for the Kiwanis Food Booth
Not only was the weather fantastic at the 2009 Clay
County Fair, but the end result at the Kiwanis After Five Food booth
was just as fantastic. The fair stand saw record or near record
levels every day. With sunny skies and temperatures in the upper
70s to low 80s, it was good malt making weather and the crowds
responded.
This years fair saw the food booth almost hitting the $10,000 mark in
sales..we were about $3.00 short. In the coming weeks our
treasurer will have a final report after all the expenses are
paid. All in all, it was a great fair and we thank all the club
members and volunteers who helped make it such a success.
Website Update
We continue to work on the implementation of a new
After Five Website. It was approved that we move our site to
Kiwanis One to allow us better flexibility within the Kiwanis
family. We should be able to offer the new features sometime in
October as we begin the new Kiwanis year.
Benefits to the website include:
Online club election voting
Online signup for club events (no more sign up sheets)
Meeting and Program Information
Online club member directory.
Each club member would also have their own start page which would
include the club meeting schedule. An event list which would also
indicate what event and time slot you have signed up for and what
volunteer opportunities are available.
We will update
you as we get closer to any switch.
New Club Officers for
2009-2010 (October 1, 2009-September 30, 2010)
As we enter the new Kiwanis year, we welcome the officers that will
lead us into 2010. They are:
President: Reynold Peterson
President Elect: Fred Lutz
Vice President: Kevin Tlam
Past President: Mark Feldman
Treasurer: Larry Johnson
Secretary: Jane Campbell & Sande Geidl
Board Members: Pat Ahlers, Doug Duncan, Doug Wittrock, Dawn
Feucht, Lisa Hess and Sande Geidl
Club to Assist Laid Off
Members
The board of the After Five Club has made a decision to assist any club
member who has been laid off from their employer. Noting we need
to help those get through these difficult economic times, the club will
offer to pay the dues for any laid off member for six months.
After that time the board would look at finances to see if additional
months could be added. Members of the board recognized the
importance of members being able to network with other club members who
may have information on job opportunities.
Secretary and Treasurer
Dues to be Paid by Club
In a move to assist those who give of their time to
the position of club secretary and club treasurer, the board has
decided to pay the dues for these two important positions. Larry
Johnson has agreed to remain as treasurer in the coming year beginning
October 1. Jane Campbell will be assisted by Sande Geidl in the
coming year with Sande then taking over as secretary of the club in the
2010-2011 Kiwanis Year.
