BANGKOK DEEP-SKY OBJECTS OBSERVING Polar alignment:
Finding the Direction
Polaris the pole star locates 1 degree from NCP (North Celestial Pole)
(1 degree = two full moon). The pointer stars of big dipper (Ursa Major) point to
Polaris. For bangkok, some time big dipper is under horizon, Cassiopia can use as
pointer instead. For my observing site, I can't see Polaris which lies at 13 degree
from horizon. Then I used compass which slightly away from the true North.
