BANGKOK DEEP-SKY OBJECTS OBSERVING

Equatorial mount setup:

I would like to share the fastest & easiest way to set equatorial mount that enough for visual observing and sketching.

step 1:
Adjust Latitude to match with location e.g. 13.7 degree for bangkok. By release latitude lock bolt (24), adjust latitude adjustment bolt(23) until marker point to 13.7 on latitude scale (32) then lock latitude lock bolt.
step 2: Set tripod at convenient high and in horizontal level (just roughly) . Turn RA axis to north direction if can't see Polaris, compass can be used to guide.
step 3: Release RA & DEC lock bolts. Swing telescope tube to aim to observing object. It may be need to adjust the position of finder scope & eyepiece to match with location of observing objects whether they are in eastern or western part of sky. By releasing telescope clamp bolt(26) and turn the telescope tube until eyepiece & finder scope are in suitable position then lock all bolts. Adjust RA(30) & DEC(17) control knob for fine tuning and centering the observing object.

That all. Let enjoy star hopping. Please note that RA & DEC are not necessary for star-hoppers. However RA/DEC are useful in poor star field areas as I used the mixing method in some hard hopping session such as M53
