Personal Interests

Kitty writes:

My career of sustenance is computer programming and analysis. Yet, my passion is writing and music. I have written two novels, am working on a third, and have developed numerous songs to the demo stage. I have won two recognition awards for my songs from the Connecticut Songwriters Association. Those two songs can be heard on The Best of C.S.A. Anthology, Vol. 6 (to order, click here: http://www.ctsongs.com).

I continue to develop my craft in writing and song writing. I am an active member of C.S.A., and I have taken piano and voice lessons for about eight years. I am also a member of Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association and worked with an editor there to perfect my novels. I am a contributor to CAPA's newsletter, The Authority (for more information on CAPA, click here: http://www.aboutcapa.com).

My highest level of education was earned at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. There I earned a M.A.T. in art education. I also was educated in computer technology at Holyoke Community College in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Prior to those, I had earned a BA in art at Webster College in Webster Groves, Missouri.

I am a resident of Connecticut and have been for more than fifteen years. Prior to that I lived in Massachusetts for fourteen years from Provincetown to East Longmeadow. I was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and grew up there in an extended family with my sister, Kim, brother, Rick, Mom and grandparents.

I am a single Mom of recent college graduate and ESPN employee, Matt, and high school student, Michael. I have recently survived ovarian cancer by having surgery in April of 1998 with chemotherapy following.

In 1999, I joined the Unitarian Fellowship of Storrs (for more information, click here: http://www.ufs-ct.org). Recently, I led a service there to celebrate Black History month by honoring the poet, Audre Lorde. I have a Reiki level II attunement. Prior to that I took a thirteen-moon workshop called "Walking Turtle's Back," based on Native American Spirituality. I pray, meditate and do Reiki every day.

I like to spend time outdoors and my dog, Brownie, makes sure I do every day! I love to walk, garden, downhill ski, snowshoe and swim. For indoor activities, I like to listen to music, dance and read a good book--or write one! I also like to travel and have been fortunate enough to visit Ireland, France, and Switzerland. In addition, I have been to more than 30 states in the U.S. and the countries of Canada and Bermuda.
