This summer I decided it was time for our yard to get cleaned up, and I also wanted to try growing real grass. CLICK HERE to see before and after pictures.
If you remember 2006, I had a special section for my Kimono and Yukata. However, I didn't have pictures of the Obi for the Kimono, I didn't have pictures of the Hakama, and since then, I've collected more. So here we are again. Added to my collection of Kimono is a simple pink Kimono with matching Obi and Haori, and a new Yukata. This time, I'm wearing most of them. I don't have a decent picture of me wearing my first Yukata because I was rushed that day and forgot my camera. I also haven't worn my new Yukata yet because...well, it's new. I just got it. I don't have before pictures of my new Kimono because I forgot to get them, but I do have a picture of me wearing it, so yay for that. The picture of me wearing my old Kimono was taken at the Japanese festival, so you'll probably see it twice. Also added here is a picture of Maurice in my men's Kimono and Hakama. You'll probably see that twice as well, since it's also a picture from Halloween. I just figured it needed to be here, since it's part of my growing Kimono collection. I'd add all of the accessories too, but that would take up a lot of room. Maybe some day?
This is the second year I've gone to the Central Kansas Japanese Festival, and the first time I actually got to look around and watch things because I didn't HAVE to work. Lots of things go on here. You can buy neat Japanese stuff at the Bazaar, watch different groups perform, learn Origami, learn about Japanese culture, play games, get food, and all sorts of other things. Last year we even had the candy lady from Walt Disney World come to visit. This year I participated by giving a speech. It was originally for a speech contest out of Chicago, but only one person in our small K-State group got to go (it wasn't me). So our teacher thought it would be a shame to let good speeches go to waste, and we performed them at the festival. You can find my speech (subtitled and all) on my site here, or here at YouTube, or on my YouTube page here. So of course, we have the opening shots with me in my Kimono. The symbol on the giant fan is Festival, naturally. Then some pictures of Maurice during his Kendo demonstration. Kendo uses wooden and/or bamboo swords, and Maurice has and uses both. (Methinks the little girl is a bit scared.) And last, some pictures from my speech.

I got to go on a vacation trip with Maurice and his family! I was so happy! (Plus, for once I didn't have to think or plan or even drive. It really was a relaxing vacation for me!) We went to Branson, MO, which is kind of like a Midwest Las Vegas, only without all the fun (lol, just kidding). We went to the Titanic museum, Silver Dollar City, White Water, the Dixie Stampede, and we did Ride the Ducks (*quack*) and some mini golf (we all tied! How strange was that?!) and on the way back home we went to a cave (my first one ever! And it was ride-through, I didn't even have to walk :D). I really had a lot of fun, so I'm glad they took me along. Me and Maurice in front of our hotel (of course, we're facing the hotel, so all you see is the street). Mini-golfing at Pirate's Cove Lounging at White Water (oh goodness, don't I look horrible. oh, and I'm sudoku-ing. Maurice is gameboy-ing) Me and Maurice, waiting for the ducks...while giving odd looks to each other (so us...) Still waiting On the Duck...before the freak rainstorm By the way, I borrowed all of these pictures from Maurice's Mom's facebook album (I hope she doesn't mind!) because I didn't have my camera with me that time. I was vacationing!
Ah, family reunions. Aren't they just the best? Well, this one certainly was! Mom and I planned it out the best we could, and I think it turned out great. This year we had it in Kansas City, instead of the usual New Jersey location. I especially liked it because it meant I could take a trip to Worlds of Fun as well :D. Oh, and Maurice got to come along too! (kind of like hired help, lol. He helped us pack and move things, and he helped make the goody bags. But he also got to meet my family. Who could ask for me, right? .... lol) I'll put up the pictures later. I have a lot of work to do for them. I took some video too, and I have a surprise for everyone coming up with that. I hope I get it done on time...Look forward to it!
This is a bunch of the pictures that don't really have a category, or there are too few pictures for them to have a category all their own. So here they'll go! Click the thumbnails to open the pictures in a new tab or window!
A random summer day/night, good for s'more-ing and tadpole watching
Some 4th o' July shots
Maurice and Kim cut their hair, in different places!
Kim and Becca get new hats!
Aaaand...that's about it for the random summer snapshots that shouldn't just have to sit around on my computer doing nothing, lol. Hope you enjoyed them!
Welcome to my Life page, where I present my life to you in pictures...or, where no picture is available, a brief description if the event was noteworthy. It's all sort of like a blog, only I don't write about mundane daily activities. It's kind of an online scrapbook, I suppose...without the fancy doohickies...so I suppose it's more like a photo gallery, only without the photo sharing website...which means no silly advertisements! Ok, so, go enjoy...off with you now!
