Chrystal is the daughter of Timothy and Ivy (Sanchez) Yeahquo. Her maternal family includes Red Tepee, Ay-oy-ah-lay Satepauhoodle, Abel and Gome-sa-gope, Ivy Satepauhoodle Ware, Janelle Ware Sanchez, Khee-day-aim-khee, Kiowa George Poolaw, James and Dorothy Poolaw Ware, and Walden Ware. Her paternal family includes Gui-pa-go (Old Chief Lonewolf), Fred Botone, Fannie Yeahquo, Edward Yeahquo, Maurice Yeahquo, Maureen Yeahquo, George Bent and Kiowa Woman, Au-Gu-Ko (Yellowhair #1), Au-Gu-ko (Yellowhair #2), and Mary Yellowhair Yeahquo.

During her reign, Chrystal was a student at the University of Oklahoma. She was active in the OU American Indian Student Association, the Campus Crusade for Life, and Baptist Student Union as well as taking part in Kiowa language classes. She graduated from Mustang High School in 1999 where she was a Student Council Representative, Queen of Hearts Candidate (1997) and Queen (1999), a member of the Native American Club and the Womens Choir. She was selected IEC Mustang Student of the Year and voted Class Clown. She had previously served as the 1998-1999 Miss Indian Oklahoma City.
