Text By Aziz out of Yemameh [Yamama III], a grey Seglawieh Jedranieh of the rare strain of Ibn Sudan now extinct in the desert, it having been bought up by the Viceroy of Egypt, at the break-up of whose establishment, much of the best stock was purchased by the Crabbet Stud in England.
Mesaoud was First and Champion at Crystal Palace, London, 1896, 97, 98, and one of the most influential Arabian sires ever brought to England. Among his more distinguished get were
Daoud (a fine individual and sire of Nasra, champion of both Islington and the Royal Show two years in succession; of Rudeyna, 2nd at Richmand and dam of a champion at the London Show; of Marhaba, champion at Horsham Show and Dam of *Mirzam, 1st in Saddle Class and 2nd in Championship, Ohio State Fair, 1932; of Somra, Silver Medal Horsham Show); Nadir (Champion at Islington, 1911, 13, 15, and Champion Polo Sire, Tunbridge Wells, 1913); Seyal (sire of *Berk, Champion of Islington, 1909, 10, 11, and sire of the winners Rissla and Hazzam); Harb (considered the peer of any Arabian stallion in the world in his day and sire of *Rodan which has done well in the United States); *Astraled (sire of Razaz, an important foundation stallion at Crabbet; Selima, 2nd at Ranelagh and Horsham and dam of the World's champion, Shareer; Riyala and Ramla, winner of the Endurance Contest in U. S.); and Champion *Abu Zeyd, grandsire in England of Mizan, Jeruan, Yakoot, and Champion Baida, and sire in the United States of Champion Bazleyd.
