Reading a copy of "Computer and video games" it finally
occurs to you;
"I gotta have a PSX2".
You roll the thought and savour it like fine wine ...
Well,there's
some choices to be made,I'm afraid.
Choices?
Can't I go and simply buy one??
Nope.Not if you want to maximize your fun,that is...See, most of the really cool games-
come from Japan(along with comix,animation,electronic appliances,etc.)and they come many months ahead
of any release in the English-speaking world.They are packaged more lavishly,too.So,if you are
reasonably fluent in Japanese and dont like waiting and fussy about your game package-then you may want to buy a Japanese PSX2.
Even if you dont know much Japanese, some of
the console menus can be turned into English(read all about that here) and you can find English guides to Japanese games on internet sites
such as www.gamefaqs.com(Adjust the power supply if your country's power standard is not 110V/30A.You need a TV that can handle NTSC signals but... hey,if you dont at least own a multi-system TV,what are you doing with a PSX2???)

If you dont know Japanese at all and dont mind the wait-there's another option:buy a US
PSX2.Games appear in the USA several months after their launch in Japan.It sometimes take nearly a year for a game to get released in UK/Europe.Some games will never even make it.(Censorship by government bodies prevent certain "violent" or "adult-oriented" software from reaching the shops.)This is sad but that's how the cookie crumbles.SONY piled more misery on this by shipping a large quantity of dud PSX2s to UK /Europe on their initial launch.
English language PlayStation 2 DVD ROMs and Hollywood movies debut in 'region 1' coding.Since there are no mod chips that do a 'DVD hack' yet, a US PSX2 will be an ideal purchase.
For the rest of the sad cases, a UK/European PSX2 will have to do.Wait forever for a game to come and hope it will slip through all the "big brother" types who think for us-ENJOY!!
