Big L
R.I.P. Lamont Coleman
1974-1999
Early 1999 one of New York's most talented and prolific underground MC's was fatally shot in a drive by shooting. He was shot by a bullet not aimed at him. He was walking outside of his house, when a car pulled up, and shot him several times, before driving of. Report's have proved, that the bullet, was not aimed at him, and he was mistaken for someone else. This month we pay a tribute to one of Hip Hop's most talented, and unheard MC's. Big L' made a name for himself, in New York's famous, underground Hip Hop scene, and earlier this year, started his own underground label. But proved to be an ambition which was short lived. He was a lyricist, who had no bounds. He rhymed about anything and almost everything, with a flow, and lyrical skill, which put him in the same league as hip hop hop's most prolific MC's. Gang Starr pays a tribute to Big L' on there album Full Clip : A Decade of Gang Starr, for which the whole album is dedicated to him, with the additional release of the single, Full Clip.. And watch out in the stores, for Big L's last release, before his fatal shooting. "He will sorely be missed by the hip hop community, as once again Hip Hop losses, a talented MC... His spirit will live forever, in the rhymes he has written for us all" - Baljinder 'Jigs' Jagdev
