Michael McLoughlin (1860-1935) was born near Enfield, County Meath. He worked as a cattle herd and married Kate Moran of Posseckstown, Enfield, county Meath at Jordanstown church in 1891. Kate Moran (1866-1933) was the daughter of James Moran, a herdsman of Posseckstown, Enfield, County Meath. Her father was Edward Moran, also a herdsman listed in Griffith's Valuation of 1855 and her mother was Mary Loughlin also of Posseckstown..

Michael and Kate had nine children who were educated at the local primary school at Baconstown; Thomas and John who died young, Elizabeth, the eldest who married William Vaughan and settled near Trim, James who joined the army, William who emigrated to America in the 1920s, Kate who married a local man named Jack McLoughlin, Mary who emigrated to England, Christopher who married and settled in Kilkenny and Patrick who married Jenny Murray and took over the family farm.
