Welcome to Kierra Entertainment's Official Website.

Welcome! We have been around since late 2001. We started our little Sierra Fan company then when I found a dos program Microsoft QuickBasic. It is an old basic program used to make programs. Things in these type of games were like Text Adventures with nonanimated pictures. It had EGA compatibility while games made like that in the late 1970s had CGA.

We started are company when we heard about another Sierra Fan company (Tierra) was going to create a remake of King's Quest I (one of the games made by Sierra) with VGA colors and the point and click interface where you use commands with the mouse instead of the keyboard. We decided to created one as well. We called it Kierra because we were huge King's Quest fans and we like Sierra's other games. We combined the "K" from King's Quest and the "ierra" from Sierra and formed Kierra.

Since Spirit Warrior ALPHA version, I have unfortunately canceled further development, at least in AGI. Read news for more information about my next game.

About AGI

In case you don't know what AGI is I'll tell you. AGI (Adventure Game Interpreter) was an amazing game engine developed by Sierra On-Line inc. in the 1980s. During the game, you control the character which could walk around, in front and run into objects on the screen. It was way better than the other text adventures previously. The first game made in AGI was King's Quest. It was game with fairy tales in a kingdom long ago called Daventry. You play as Graham. You must find three treasures of Daventry that were stolen, but you must avoid a witch, a wolf, a dwarf, a giant, a dragon, a troll, a sorcerer, a ogre, and many other creatures. Some may help you such as the Fairy God Mother. Sierra abandoned AGI after 1989 after they developed SCI with enhanced Graphics and Sound.

AGI Today

Since 1998, people have figured out how AGI works and created a Editor for editing and creating AGI games, AGI Studio. Many people already have created their own AGI fan games. AGI Studio has grown a lot. In the beginning it only allowed viewing and editing Existing games. Later they created a template game, that can be used for making games. Some people have edit the interpreter for new versions. Another version NAGI, New Adventure Game Interpreter, was re programmed by being disassembled then recompiled with added things such as, Windows Support, Mouse Support, Music that supports all 4 voices, and many other things. Other people have edited the interpreter for things like 256 color support and mouse support.

News...

March 25, 2007

KGI version 1.1 is now available. See the KGI page for details regarding its updates and download. Not much has actually been changed, but the editors are now much easier to use. The KGI Demo game will be delayed for the next release of KGI because the next version will support many new features.

Finally after a Year and a half of development. The first version of KGI is finished. Actually it took only a year of development. The first six months were for the prototype. The final version here is much better and easier to use. I have decided to release it under the GNU license. You can find it on the KGI page. Within the next few weeks, there should be a Demo Game designed to demonstrate the features of KGI.

The DOS version has now been loaded on our site. This is only here in case people want to play it on older computers that have only earlier versions of windows and MS-DOS. You must have a 386 or higher, because it is a 32-bit program. Also you need to run in a protected mode environment because it uses more than just 640k of memory. CWSDPMI seems to work well.

It has been a while since I last updated our web page. The game I was working on had some fatal bugs I needed to remove and it took awhile. This is why it has now been placed here as BETA version. Please note it may not be very stable. This was posted up here to help find bugs. We also have a new message board. Click Here to go to it. The new game is a remake of Pyramid that I created back in 2002. The Windows version is available now. I should have the DOS one soon.

Sorry about not updating the web page for a while. Note that KGI has been delayed until sometime after Christmas due to a bug, otherwise it would have been finished in June. I have been very busy working on that and a new game. It will be written in AGS. Visit the site for more information about it.

This game engine is more powerful, enabling graphics from AGI games to 3D adventure games today. Music and sound can be from Midis to mp3s and ogg vorbis. If you have played the KQ1 and 2 VGA games, recreated by AGDI, then you know exactly what AGS can do. You can even sell its games created in it.

I'm not telling you about the game story and title. That's a surprise. However I will tell you that graphics will be in 16-bit colors with Sierra-Like VGA scenes. No typing is required at all, just a point-and-click interface with the mouse. Hopefully this game should be finished by late November.

Unfortunately, I don't think Spirit Warrior will be ever 100% finished. It just took to long to make and before February, I rushed too much. I may make a remake someday in AGS or something else, but not for a long time.

I found a Midi sequencer that's freeware. It was very difficult to find. That's why it is on the links page.

Work on KGI is coming pretty great. It evens has a compiler and encrypts the scripts so hackers can't get into your game. The Tile Editor is easy to use and uses the mouse to draw just like a typical drawing program. The interpreter will include MIDI support. While if you can tell, the music in Spirit Warrior is borrowed off of other games. I am looking for a MIDI sequencer. A absolutely free one with no trial or demo version. If you know of one please, please tell me. Thank you.

I am sorry that I uploaded Spirit Warrior two weeks later than expected. I had the flu or something during the week of Valentine's Day and last week, I was very busy to upload it. But here it is. It's only 75% finish, but this version was primarily for bug reports. Please report all bugs you find. We are checking for bugs as well. When we find and fix the first 50 bugs (I know that there's at least 100) I'll release the BETA version.

Spirit Warrior is almost finish. I just need to link a few rooms and create battle scenes. I have to admit that the first version or ALPHA will not be 100% finish. Only the ending will be incomplete, but I doubt the way it is designed that anyone will get that far in a month. Actually the ALPHA version is only going to be released for bug reports. So please report any bugs if you download it.

Work on Spirit Warrior is falling a little behind schedule. I promise that the Beta Version will be completed before Valentine's Day. I'm working on a little side project in QuickBasic. It a RPG game engine that allows you to create the tile to tile RPG games. It will run only in DOS at 320x200 resolution with 256 colors. If you know about QBASIC bitmaps it shouldn't be a problem creating the graphics. It also has a very, very simple script code that allows you to set stats, grab inventory items and display text. I have decided to call the engine KGI short for Kierra Game Interpreter. When I release the first version I will post it up for anyone who wants to make a game in it.

I have created a Guest book page where you can report bugs, send comments, or ask questions about our games. If you send a bug, please specify which game it is, where it is in the game, what do you do to produce the bug, and what happens. If you ask questions, please don't ask when a game will be finished. Let me know what you think of our games. Click here to go to the Guest book.

I have finished a links page that has links to other sites relating to AGI and SCI. Those sites are MUSTS if you want to learn more about them or create your own games in any of these formats. The work on Spirit Warrior is coming on pretty well. Click here to go straight to the links page!

Great News. I've added a Spirit Warrior Demo Pack. It includes a movie where you can see what the game is like, and a playable demo. The demo is really what I have finished so far. It's not really much and some graphics are not as good. Some background pictures were made when I starting to learn how to use PicEdit (The background Picture Editor). So when I come when the game's finished, some background images will be different. Also I know there will be bugs with the demo. I'm finding out a way to so you can report any bugs to me. There are two more things, because of MS-DOS games have some compatibility problems in Windows XP I put the demo in NAGI (New Adventure Game Interpreter). The last thing is that the pack is in the ZIP file format. Please view the readme before using the software. It takes about 1 and 1/4 megabytes of space. Have Fun playing.

I just got this site up and running. I'm not finished yet with it. You can check the site out and see about my game Spirit Warrior. I'm working on a demo and the game is going great so far. It'll be a great hit. I think it will be finished around fall. I still have a lot of work to do.
