This is to let everyone know the KHS Class of 1976, 30th Reunion was
a total success. Even though it rained earlier in the evening,
Friday night's "get together" at Mariner's Harbor didn't
dampen anyone's spirit. The stories, hugs and kisses...and yes
drinks...all flowed as classmates reminisced over old times.
Some classmates came from as far away as California, Arizona and New
Mexico (good job Shelley Andersen, Gerri Clark and
Stu Fein). Some haven't seen each other or Kingston in
30 years. George "Butch" Ford
arrived from Florida with business cards in hand (free deep-sea
fishing trip for all classmates who visit him in Tampa).
Everyone who came from out of town commented they spent all day
Friday just "driving around Kingston, their old neighborhoods,
and the high school". One person commented they thought
they saw the same guy, sitting in the same spot on "the
wall" in front of KHS, as they did when they graduated 30 years
ago. The smartest classmate of all was Cindy Vilches;
she was the only one to show up with yearbook in hand. Pat
Hickey, our professional photographer, roamed around taking random pictures.
The second half of the reunion weekend was even more successful...if
that's possible. Classmates gathered at Twin Lakes in Hurley
for dinner, dancing and more reminiscing. The food and drinks
were excellent. The band, "Hot Rod" had the place
hopping with great music. Classmates Marianne
Wood, Jim Waleur and his wife Kim were burning up the
floor. Cindy Vilches brought her
yearbook again, I'm surprised it survived from the Friday night
party. Also Sulu Kelley, who came in
from Ohio, brought his yearbook. He passed it around so that
classmates who didn't sign it 30 years ago, could. While the
music played, classmates had their pictures taken with their spouses
and friends by Pat Hickey.
The "reunion committee" outdid themselves in building and
setting up a display of archived articles and pictures from
1976. There was one particular display which showed all the
classmates that have "passed away". Although alot of
us have changed over the years, their pictures will always remain in
our minds, like they were when we were in high school...and that's
the way it should be !!
Lastly, on behalf of all who attended the reunion and even though
words can't really express our appreciation, WE your classmates,
would like to send a BIG THANK YOU to the reunion committee for an
outstanding job in putting this event together. The reunion
committee members were:
Joanne Leverenz
Anne Stedge
Steve Mazzuca
Glenn Clark
Jim and Kim Waleur
Marianne Rahm (Bennett)
For all the number of hours you spent sending out mailings,
responding to mailings, making phone calls, planning, re-planning and
re-planning again, etc, THANK YOU. We all had a great
time and the only disappointment anyone commented about, was knowing
the reunion had to come to an end. So pat yourselves on the
back, take some time off to rest and in 5 years..."we need to do
this again !!"
Pictures from Friday and Saturday Nights "get together"
are posted in the "Reunion Photo" section. Please
take a look !! Not all picture are posted due to
"space" issues...although.
Lastly, the Reunion Committee is selling a DVD Video Program of 1976

The Reunion Committee met to finalize the financial books and
discuss the possibility of having a 35th reunion in 2011.
It was reported that there were 150 + classmates who attended the
Friday Night "Get Together" at Mariner's Harbor.
Saturday Nights "Dinner" attendance exceeded 100 classmates
at the Twin Lakes Resort.
All expenses incurred for the reunion were paid and the class'
account was in the black posting a small profit. The monies
will be used for future reunions, mailings, and other expenses.
It was reported that the reunion committee sold over 41 Reunion
DVD's to date (see the date and comments above). It was also
commented on that some classmates were still wondering if they were
able to purchase the DVD. The word is the DVD will ALWAYS
be be available.
Lastly it was discussed about when to have the next reunion and what
kind would it be. One suggestion was to have a 40th reunion
similiar to the 30th reunion with a "get together" night
and a "dinner" the following night. Another
suggestion was to have a 35th reunion, having 2 "get
togethers", one on Friday Night and one on Saturday Night.
The discussion was ended by agreeing to complete a "mailing"
to all classmates in 2010 and ask them if they would attend a 35th
reunion and how they would like it to be.
With that the meeting was declared over.
