Welcome to Kheru, the Voice of PiRamesses.
Letter From The Editor
My name is Seshat Sithathor and I want to take this opportunity to tell you all how very excited I am about my new position as the Editor of Kheru! I feel deeply honored to share in the team spirit that makes PiRamesses such a great online community. In keeping with that spirit, I am going to strive to keep up the tradition of excellence begun here by my editorial predecessor and friend Leyla Hatshepsut. Like her, I believe that Kheru is a vital and wonderful part of PiRamesses. The very existence of Kheru is very meaningful as it allows all PiRamesses members to have a voice in their virtual world. In fact, anyone in PiRamesses who has a desire to write articles or to contribute original graphics for showcasing in our newspaper are hereby invited to join me in making Kheru one of the best virtual newspapers on the web! If you have something you wish to share, please contact me anytime by e-mail or via message at my per if you dont see me online. Now that I've told you a little about my mission as Kheru's new editor, let me tell you a bit about this edition's exciting articles!
Kheru Special Feature:First of all, for those of you who enjoy seeing Egyptian artifacts, I have a special feature to share! It is an incredible series of web pages done by AnkhesenPaAten that cover her visit to the British Museum in London in December of 2000. Here you will be able to read Ankhesen's personal impressions of the museum as well as see some great pictures of the museum's impressive Egyptian collection. Please click on the special banner link below to go there: Next, I would like to bring your attention to the left column of our paper, where there are links to the rest of our new features. Here you will find two wonderful web pages. The first is a web chart of the Calendar of the Ancient Egyptians created by the very talented web weaver Rapachi Amenhotep. Be sure to book mark this valuable resource! The other featured web page is by me about my beloved Abyssinians. If you dont own one of these wonderful cats then you just might want to by the time you read my web page! I think that everyone should own one of these gorgeous and uncommonly sociable cats! Kheru also has a great new GOSSIP Gazette Column by Wadjet Ramesses. Be sure to read this one for some very entertaining but as yet unconfirmed information about various special people in PiRamesses! Also included in this issue for your reading pleasure is a very candid interview with Anqet Ramesses, the Nomarch of the 11th Nome of Upper Egypt that was written by the Governor of Upper Egypt, Ptolemy. In this interview, Ptolemy finds out how Anqet and her Nome are helping in the Hittite War effort. There is also an entertaining tour of Seti's Scribal School in Gebtu. Your congenial guides through the school are Seti himself as well as Nomarch and Mayoress Betinas Mutemwiya. Here, learning about the life of a scribe is told in an engaging and fun way. Another great read for you history buffs out there would be the wonderful article by Princess NeferAhmose about The Battle of Kadesh in 1294 BC. NeferAhmose's article is very interesting since it gives the real history behind the virtual battle with the Hittites going on right now in the "Life in the House of Ramesses" Novel Story line. That sums up the entire issue for you. Now that you know what this edition of Kheru offers, I hope that you enjoy reading all of it tremendously! Until next time, may the Netjeru watch over you all! May Amun Ra and all his divine children bless our land and uphold our mighty Living Horus, the Pera'a Userma'atre Ramesses, may he live forever! Ankh! Udja! Seneb!
This newspaper is published quarterly in January, April, July and October.
