Anqet: I think our great army will ultimately defeat the horrible Hittites. I just abhor the loss of our brave soldiers. Ptolemy: War indeed is a terrible thing for anyone to go through. Anqet: Yes it is. The brave good soldiers that will have to give their lives for our land sadden me no end. Ptolemy: As the Nomarch and Mayoress of the city of Shuth, what contributions have you and your Nome given? Anqet: I have directed that all the grain that we can give be taken to the place of embarkation and donated for food. I have also asked that all our physicians and those with medical training be sent to help as needed. We are also gathering all extra clothing and bandages we can. Ptolemy: I have personally read reports that the Hittite army numbers well over twenty thousand. It has been said that our forces will be outnumbered. In your opinion, does our great army have a fighting chance? Anqet: Absolutely! It is not the numbers that matter so much as the heart and soul that a warrior carries into battle. Our brave soldiers are fighting for our great Pharaoh and our precious homeland. This inspires a man more than just the number of arrows and spears that surround him at any time. Ptolemy: Our Pharaoh is indeed a very capable warrior. He has time and time again demonstrated that ability with his father Seti the first. Our King will inspire all those under him to give hell to the Hittites. Now that you have been promoted to Assistant Governor of Upper Egypt, what will you do in aid of the war effort? Anqet: As I have said before our Nome has contributed all that has been asked of us, and more. I will personally go to the palace and be on hand for anything that is needed of me. I will also ask that I be allowed to go into the field and help where I can be of any use whatsoever. I don't want to just sit in my office, grand though it is, and just be a figurehead. I want to give all the aid and comfort I possibly can. Ptolemy: My last question to you is, do you have any friends out in the front lines? If so, are there any messages you would like to have relayed to them? Anqet: I am privileged to know a few of the brave spear bearers that are now serving the Mighty Bull and would ask that they know that I go to the temple before Re greets us daily and offer my prayers for their safe return as I do for all our wonderful men in the battle. Ptolemy: Thank you Anqet for taking the time to do this interview with me. It has been a real pleasure and an honor to sit and talk with you. May the gods bless you, our country, and your Nome. Anqet: It has been an honor for me to have your attention for this time. I hope that this will be of some use to the war effort and that you will be safe always. Please take my prayers with you for all safety and your speedy return. Thank you for asking for this interview. Ptolemy: It has been my pleasure. Good-bye. Anqet: Bless and keep you as well Ptolemy.
