Principal speech on 10th Parents' Day |
|
Assalam-u-alaikum
I welcome you all on behalf of the member of faculty and
cadets on the 10th parents’ Day of Garrison
Cadet College, Kohat. It is a matter of great honour,
privilege and pleasure for us to have you all with us on
this auspicious occasion.
Garrison Cadet College, Kohat, is now a decade old. In
this short span of time, the college has made remarkable
progress in all fields. The result produced by the
college in F.Sc, and Matric exam held so far are
praiseworthy. In 2003, Kohat Board 9th class
examination, two of our cadets topped the board. Eight
other cadets secured various positions in first ten. In
total of 68 cadets appeared, 58 got 80% and above marks
and remaining 10 obtained 70 and above marks. In matric,
43 cadets appeared in the exam. Out of these 25 cadets
got A-1 grade and other 18 got A grade. Similarly in
F.Sc Part-1 and Part-2, 144 cadets appeared, 54 got
first division, 84 passed in second Division, 4 got
third division and 4 failed. Though this result is not
encouraging but it is a substantial progress on earlier
results and Inshallah it will improve further with every
passing year. Our college actively participates in inter
college co-curricular and extra curricular fixtures all
over Pakistan. Our Cadets participates in inter Pakistan
English, Urdu, and Pushto debate in Cadet College Razmak
where our team was declared runner up. Another team of
cadets participated in all Pakistan Elite Institution
Talent Contest 2003 in Cadet College Larkana, Where the
team was declared 4th amongst 18 Colleges.
Our teams Participated in Kohat Board Sports
Championship, and won Kohat Board inter College sports
Championship Trophy 2002-2003. one of our cadets was
declared best sportsman of the year and got a Gold
Medal.
In addition our four cadets represented N.W.F.P in inter
Provincial under 16 Table Tennis Championship and won
third position for the province. The college is also
maintaining a very high standard of discipline. By the
grace of Allah, this college has taken off very well and
today it stands shoulder to shoulder with the other
cadet colleges of the country.
Besides quality education, we lay a lot of emphasis on
discipline, physical fitness, character building, and a
wholesome range of co-curricular & extra curricular
activities. The cadets get appropriate time for studies,
sports, PT, Drill and recreation. Our Endeavour is to
produce well-groomed balanced personalities. Garrison
Cadet College is a self financing institution. The
college was given some money by6 the federal government
for construction initially required buildings and some
funds for construction of third hostel by the N.W.F.P
government there after, no more funds have been provided
by the federal or provincial government. Whatever
enormous developmental work has been carried out during
the last few years, has been accomplished on self-help
basis. During last one year we have got sui gas
connection for the college at a cost of Rs. One Million
plus. We have also constructed a mess with hostel No.3,
arranged furnishing of the new hostel, installed F-6
aircraft, redesigned main gate, constructed a vehicles
shed, and laid three large lawns in the college. These
all projects have cost us a huge amount of Rs 16 Lac. In
addition we have also started two major projects, one is
swimming pool of international standard, our honourable
chief guest has just laid its foundation stone, and
other is the construction of three houses for the
faculty members. These two projects are likely to cost
us seven million plus. To make this college a wholesome
residential institution, we still have a lot more to do.
An addition of one more hostel for 100 cadets, and
auditorium for a capacity of about 1000 people, two
squash courts, a residential colony for the faculty
members, residential barrack for administration and
lower staff, storage accommodation and about 5km link
roads, would complete basic and essential needs of the
college. All these projects need a lot of money, which
cannot be collected wit in a short period of time. In
order to have all these facilities we have plan to
undertake these projects in a phased programmed after
due prioritization. Inshallah we will accomplish all
these projects and make it a model institution of this
country. Taking this opportunity of availability of
parents and wardens, I will request for your cooperation
in this regard also.
At the end, I would like to extend my profound thanks and
gratitude to Lieutenant General Ali Muhammad Jan
Aurakzai, who has been extremely gracious to spare time
out of his very busy schedule and traveled all the way
from Peshawar to be with us the Garrisonian this
Morning.
I also thank our honourable guests and the parents who have
joined us this auspicious occasion.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Pakistan Zindabad !
