My current research interests are in the field of Sliding Mode Control and its applications to non-linear control.

Higher Order Sliding Modes (HOSM) or Dynamic Sliding Mode:  Higher order sliding moce control is generalisation of classical Sliding Mode Control and it has been shown useful in controlling nonlinear non-minimum phase systems.
Download a Power Point presentation.
Download (PDF-file): Robust Speed Control of an Automotive Engine Using Second Order Sliding Modes. The paper was presented at European Control Conference (ECC) 2001, 4-7 September, Porto, Portugal.
Download (PDF-file): Application of output feedback based dynamic sliding mode control to speed control of an automotive engine. The paper was presented at Fourth Nonlinear Control Network (NCN4) Workshop , 25 - 28 June 2001, The University of Sheffield, UK.

Backstepping and Recursive Interlacing Methods:  The purpose is not to linearise the system but to control, and use the non-linearities which are beneficial from the control point of view.

Application of HOSM: My interest lies in the application of dynamic sliding modes to differentially flat and non-flat systems.
