Library of Congress: Library Services/Preservation Directorate/Binding and Collections Care Division/Library Binding Section

My goal realized, I began my career as a Civil Servant on December 11, 2006 as Library Technician at the Library of Congress. I process books for binding, pack shipments for transport to the binder, quality check bound works and label hardcover works. On a two-year appointment, it has opened the door to the Federal Government for me.


The Phillips Collection

My love of museums has drawn me to the Phillips where I work weekends as a Museum Assistant guarding the various artworks of America's first museum of modern art.


Justice Department: Civil Division

From July 1, 2004 to November 30, 2006 I worked as a Records staffer under Diversified Technology and Services of Virginia. Starting as Substitute Records Technician at the Record Management Unit (RMU) in Merrifield, Va. on an as-needed basis. After two months I was promoted to a temporary Records Tech on full-time schedule at the P2 and P4 Active Records Units on Pennsylvania Avenue downtown. As of August 22, 2005, I returned to the RMU as a Records Clerk in a permanent position on the files team. In the course of my daily duties, I reshelved files, filed loose documents and maintained folders. This position was part-time until I found a full-time position in the D.C. area.


Smithsonian: National Museum of American History

Where I spent Summer and part of Fall 2003. I worked 20 hours a week during the summer and 8 hours during the fall in the Exhibit Production Department.


Heritage Reservation, BSA

For six years I served on the summer camp staff for Greater Pittsburgh Council, BSA. I started in 1996 as a Counselor-In-Training at Camp Independence, the Cub Scout camp at Heritage Reservation. I returned in 1997 as a Campcraft Instructor teaching basic camping skills. I took on the large responsibility of managing the camp Trading Post in 1999 and 2001.   • Computer Lab Monitor, Institutional Services, Penn State Beaver.


Web Experience

Beaver Area Online

The official web site of the Beaver Area School District. I served as Senior Webmaster from 1999-2000. The site has gone through an extensive refurbishing since then though.


Beaver County History Online

A history web site I oversaw as the student webmaster from 1998-2000. The site still remains as it was under my leadership.

Computer Skills

  • Have used and actively maintained both Macintosh and Wintel platforms.
  • Active knowledge of QuarkXpress, Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Pagemaker and GoLive.

Literary Asperations:

  • Historical Fiction on the British Invasion of 1814 and subsequent destruction of Washington and writing of the Star Spangled Banner. Title unknown at this time.
  • Fiction piece on a young man living in D.C. Tentatively titled "Polk's Soliloquy."
  • Biographical work on John Hanson of Maryland, first President under the Articles of Confederation and boyhood friend of George Washington. Tentativey titled "Lost Father."
  • Fiction piece following two men as they use their different surroundings to their own advantage. Tentatively titled "Patronage of the Americas."
  • Political treatise on the evolution of American government from 1776 to present looking at the rise and fall of each style of government. Tentatively titled "The American Republics."
  • Fiction piece on the journey of a young Irish immigrant to America and settlement in Eastern Pennsylvania in 1855. Tentatively titled "Son of Swift."
