Speed Agility Quickness
TEAM SPEED! That's the goal with my Speed, Agility and Quickness (SAQ) program that we will run during our practices. Its a program that I have pieced together from many resources including the programs used by the Universities of Minnesota and Iowa along with a program that Jack Gregory, a Double Wing coach from Texas, developed for youth sports.  The program teaches everything from how to run properly, to Dynamic stretching, to using Plyometrics all with the common goal of increasing our TEAM SPEED!.

We will also spend some time in the SAQ program developing our CORE stability. The CORE is made up of the abdominal and lower back muscles. This will greatly help our coordination, agility, and performance along with helping to reduce injuries.

The 2004 season was the first time that I ran a  SAQ program and the results were amazing. The results were most noticeable on defense, where we would routinely have 5-6-7 players on the ball carrier and the rest were usually very closeby. Regardless of what personnel we had on the field, you could see the kids swarming all over the ball carrier.

We continued to use the SAQ program in 2005 and also added in a Dynamic Warmup program which really showed us great reults.
